What's New in Firefox 3

Firefox 3 is based on the new Gecko 1.9 Web rendering platform, which has been under development for the past 30 months and includes nearly 2 million lines of code changes, fixing more than 12,000 issues. Gecko 1.9 includes some major re-architecting for performance, stability, correctness, and code simplification and sustainability. Firefox 3 has been built on top of this new platform resulting in a more secure, easier to use, more personal product with a lot under the hood to offer website and Firefox add-on developers.

[Improved in Beta 3!] Firefox 3 Beta 3 includes approximately 1300 individual changes from the previous beta, including fixes for stability, performance, memory usage, platform enhancements and user interface improvements. Many of these improvements were based on community feedback from the previous beta.

well ok, the thread describes the latest release as beta 3, of course a nightly build will always be newer!

Did they just remove the Home button?

Just upgraded to Firefox 3 Beta 3 from the Beta 2. Home button is disappeared. :( I have to press Alt + Home instead.

Can't u manually add it, by right clicking on the bar and selecting "customize"?

OMG!

I want to believe that this is just a "bug" on this beta version. Otherwise it'll be a HUGE mistake...

Ah. I have always disabled view bookmark toolbar. But a home button in the bookmark toolbar? I don't like that. :(

Have they fixed the memory leakage yet? I'm using 128mb of memory right now with firefox 2.

I like this new beta. It's really faster. Even on my very old low end comp and 1mbit net.

What are you guys complaining about the home button? It's there?

And I am just seeing it has built-in spelling check on forms... Check it out :D

It's there, but it was better when it was next to the 'stop' button. Bigger, easier to spot plus you had more space for internet page :p:

If you don't like where it is, then drag it back up where it belongs!

The browser history think in beta is bugging the hell out of me. Like when I type in "xtr..." I want it to give me options to go back to http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/index.php but instead if shows links to all the threads I visited.

Yea know, I really don't get how so many are having troubles with memory leaking with FF. While it can get up there sometimes, it takes quite a bit of time to do so. I leave FF open 24/7 (same as PC) with minimum of 4 tabs open at all times. Don't get it...

Hey, Trans Am, do me a favor when you post news stories, please provide more than just the link. While it doesn't have to be alot, just say the first paragraph from the story or something. Get what I mean?
