ATI Catalyst 8.2

All ATI card owners may prepare for another new Catalyst very soon. The release notes for ATI Catalyst 8.2 package are already posted online here (http://game.amd.com/us-en/content/pdf/Catalyst_82.pdf), meaning that the new driver download links are to be posted too in a few hours. I'll update the story with active links as soon as they're up and running. Until then prepare yourself for the new Catalyst 8.2.


Performance improvements with this release of Catalyst includes Company of Heroes DX10 frame rates increasing as much as 20% across all of the ATI Radeon HD 2x00 series of products and on all ATI Radeon HD 3x00 series of products. These performance improvements are even larger (up to 30%) for CrossFire configurations.

Catalyst AI enabled = again borked all texts in game, game crashes before benchmark ends (after aircrafts bombards church)
Catalyst AI disabled = texts readable, 50 percent fps performance loss on 3870X2, game dont crash

World in Conflict DX10 - Very High
text is ok even on Catalyst AI enabled, second GPU is not used so its like running game with single Radeon 3870 (checked temperature of both gpus, first got 78C ingame, while second still 50C)
min.fps = 5
average fps = 13
max. fps = 25

The drivers don't bring any more power then the 080123a drivers for me. They work nice and i can't find any bugs till now, but i had good hope for some more speed bumbs.

weird I score 20100 with 2 x 3870's in crossfire with this driver in Vista. Q6600 @ 4.0, something aint right, that is no tweaks on my system, and I could only score over 20000 with my 2 8800gtx's in XP, never did it in vista. Though I only bench what I game at, so never really tweaked for score.

I got it--no real testing. Seems the same as Cat8.01 to me... anyways--a quick question (just confirmation). Diamond Radeon HD3850 256MB stock ($170 @ NewEgg). I have got my HD3850 @770/1998, though I've been hitting some instabilities in games (sort of like alt-tabbing out of the game, the game is paused as far as I can tell, takes like 5s to go back to normal) and was wondering if that's CPU or GPU. I already tested @750/1998, so I assume it's too high memory. I was running fine @669/1680ish and then @770/1680ish, so it's the memory causing the problems, right? I'm assuming I'm running memory too fast.

Still no go for me. I can't figure this out, 7.11 in xp x64 = bsod when crossfire gets enabled, 7.12 works great, 8.0 + screen is split in 2 sections, top isn't in sync with bottom.

Is this just crossfire? I have tried vista no change, same thing, except I can't get a driver that works with crossfire.

Could it be using Quantum-Force 2900XT bios editor causing this?

Unfortunately every driver after 7.11 are somewhat buggy in 2900CF with xp. Have you tried 7.11 crysis hotfix drivers? Install them over 7.11, don't remove 7.11 first. 7.11 and crysis hotfix are only drivers which work flawlessy in 32bit XP and crossfire.

Here's fix you could try for that screen splitting/shaking/tearing. Remove other CF bridge. Leave that which is closer to mounting bracket. Sounds weird but that doesn't affect performance (at least under 1600x1200 resolutions). That way you can at least try to get 8.2 working. There's lot of problems still: wic doesn't work in CF. Gets corrupted/splitted/shaking/tearing, whatever.
EDIT: You can try both cf bridges. There's a chance other one works and other don't.


Btw, you should NOT use any color settings in CCC. If you want to use them you must change settings for both cards before enabling crossfire (using two monitors or just two cables on one monitor works). Or else you get very bad flickering because every other frame is rendered with your color settings and every other in default colors. This happens only in games/apps which support CCC color correction.

Thanks, I will give this a try. Since I run 1920x1200, I'll check monitor the fps , with and without.

yeap mine!!, but only after flashing with a modded bios.previous were detected as 3870.
