I'm in the process of buying a rack PSU for my latest HTPC build and feel a bit lost due to the lack of reviews on these kind of parts.
There is no room for a regular PSU so it must be a small 2U that has a maximum height of 70mm.

I would be most greatful if you could give me an hint on which of these PSU's that would serve a regular ATX setup (QX9650 OC'd, HD 3870x2 OC'd) the best.
My modest experience tells me i need at least 40A available on the 12v lines to feed this properly.

I have researched these PSU's:

Seasonic SS-600H2U
http://www.seasonic.com/pdf/mechanic...odel%20(1).pdf
It has 3 x 12v lines @ 15A, 15A and 17A...makes me a bit uncertain about it's capability to feed the HD 3870x2 card?

Seasonic SS-460H2U
http://www.seasonic.com/pdf/mechanic...odel%20(1).pdf
It has 2 x 12v lines @ 18A each and a 80+ certification which is nice.

Zippy/Emacs P2M-6601P
http://www.zippy.com.tw/P_product_detail.asp?lv_rfnbr=2&pp_rfnbr=1325&pcp_ rfnbr=2&pp_name=&pcp_name=2U%20Single&pcpw_rfnbr=5 &pp_code=P2M-6601P
It has a massive 48A on a single 12v line, but seems to be a bit hard to source.

Zippy/Emacs P2M-6600P
http://www.zippy.com.tw/P_product_detail.asp?lv_rfnbr=2&pp_rfnbr=1072&pcp_ rfnbr=2&pp_name=&pcp_name=2U%20Single&pcpw_rfnbr=5 &pp_code=P2M-6600P
It has "only" 42A on a single 12v line, which should be sufficient for my setup?

I really hope you could just throw me a pointer on what to choose, or perhaps have knowledge of something better.

Thanks for taking the time!:D

The answer is obvious, one of the Zippy/Emacs :)

Thanks!

That's what I wanted to hear!

Do you think 42A is sufficient for a QX9650 and a HD 3870x2, both OC'ed?

42A is more than enough. Even the Seasonic is more than enough for your system. I say go for the Seasonic. It's very very quiet and would be ideal for an HTPC. I built a rig for my friend who had a Geforce 8800GTX and a quad core I chose the Corsair 520HX for the system which has 3 +12V at 18A each. He has never reported any issues. Additionally, I have a friend who's been running an 8800GTS and an OC'ed E6600 on a 380 watt Seasonic S12 for over a year without issues as well. I hope this should give you a good idea of how much power your computer really uses.

Thanks for input!

I don't think that seasonic focus as much on the noise aspect on their rack PSU's though, but they sure make quality hardware.:)

Sorry for the bumpage but I was wondering which psu you ended up going with? I´m currently looking at the seasonic and the zippy but it seemed like the modular cabling on the seasonic would be a nice advantage over the zippy.

Zippy Emacs I think... But I had never seen them around where I live (mind you not much is up here..)
