Mushkin HP GeForce 8800GT 512MB Overclocked Edition v2 Spotted
American high-end memory manufacturer Mushkin has revealed that it is working on a new GeForce 8800 GT version, the 8800 GT G92 512 Mushkin HP Overclocked Edition v2. Mushkin has equipped the card with custom dual-slot cooler and 512MB GDDR3 memory clocked at 1900 MHz. The core frequency for this model has also been changed to 675MHz from the standard 600MHz. Other unique features come with the card's bundle, where you'll find a Mushkin T-shirt and USB flash drive with drivers. Expect HP Overclocked Edition 8800 GT v2 later this month for around 260 Euros.

power supply section looks great
Its Mushkin green atleast. Looks ready to go, so i doubt there will be any additional heatsinks and such.

Well, I like the shirt.
But I would like to know what the warranty is and Mushkin's policy on removing the cooler...
Let's hope it doesn't turn out to be another OCZ or Crucial

Sweet, but I want to see some benches! I like the USB stick with drivers, good idea.

I think it will be damn expensive. The normal Mushkin 8800 is already expensive, but i really like the mushkin shirt and the usb-sick with drivers.

Why bother with these revamped gt models when they could power up a gts 512, which is now like $50 more.
I don't get it

another nice looking product form Mushkin. i own lots of there RAM and PSU's and have used them for customers machines. i have been very happy with their product. i may have a look at their video cards if they are priced well.

Mushkin bought EPOX?? So they basically did the overclocking for us and then charge us for something we could have done for freeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

...Mushkin is in the video card market?
I spy Hynix GDDR3...
What makes you think that? Aren't most 8800GTs using Quimonda chips?

the problem with these high end 8800gt's is that they started costing about the same as the lowend 8800gts's. hopefully this will be priced properly
I got samsung ram on my 8800GTS, they both do 1100mhz with eaze

Yep. The mem may be ok, but the vregs...
power supply section looks great
Except for those unclosed chokes. Graphics cards have been using them
for years, even mobos are starting to use them on almost all boards, so
why this step back?
booo GDDR3
I haven't seen any G92 with GDDR4 and AFAIK they are not even compatible.
a fan pointing down roughly in their direction
Yeah, but quite a small fan... it's a 50mm fan at best -> high noise, high
temps. I can't see heatpipes, either. And the fins look very thin.

That's nice. Some say that these higher speeds yield little benefit, and that
these cards were designed for ~2GHz mem, above which the benefits
quickly diminish, can you verify that?

So does my 8800GT, even without any memory cooling.

What makes you think that? Aren't most 8800GTs using Quimonda chips? If you look closely you'll see that the chips in the pics (http://www.techpowerup.com/img/08-02-08/000000066848.jpg) have 3 inline rows of print on them and the 1st one is bolded then there's one row starting from the lower left corner (http://www.techpowerup.com/img/08-02-08/000000066846.jpg).
- Qimonda (http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:4K0j6B6i-1wnuM:http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac/GeForce_8800_GT/images/memory.jpg) has just 3 rows and no bolded 1st row
- Samsung (http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:vWZJYt-BcA1aiM:http://www.nvnews.net/reviews/msi_geforce_nx7950gx2/memory.jpg) has 2 inline row and 1 in the corner
- Hynix (http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:j4E43zdATejM9M:http://xtreview.com/images/Radeon-HD-2600-XT-HD-2400-XT/hynix11ddr3-mem.jpg) has 3+1 with bolded 1st row and the 4th is in the lower left corner
Yes, I'm bored.

At a price of 8800GTS, get out of here :shakes: - I don't care about a crappy cooler and a Mushkin T-Shirt. I usually buy my clothes
separately ... :P
PS.Maybe BFG should put a nice pair of panties with their OC version...
