cremou brings us word that Comcast has changed its Terms of Service to include policies on traffic management. This comes after the FCC's recent decision to investigate Comcast's P2P throttling. The language in the updated Terms of Service, according to Ars Technica, mirrors the FCC's 2005 Internet Policy Statement[PDF]. "According to Section III of the revised ToS, Comcast 'uses reasonable network management practices that are consistent with industry standards.' The company points out that it is not alone in the practice, saying that 'all major' ISPs engage in some form of traffic shaping. Comcast does it to keep its subscribers from suffering the heartaches of 'spam, viruses, security attacks, network congestion, and other risks and degradations of service' and to 'deliver the best possible Internet experience to all of its customers.'

 According to them Qwest does it, even though they have NEVER throttled my torrents or downloads.

:banana::banana::banana: comcast. I hate them. I am switching to fios as soon as it becomes available in my area.

I pay for comcast's fastest speed they offer in my area, 8/768, and this is $80 a month. They offer 16/1 and 16/2 in a few areas but only in places that have other very high speed alternative, like fios.

But hell other cable isps like road runner offer even faster than that in all areas for less money. Comcast tries to get by with the scam called powerboost and then using traffic shaping. God I :banana::banana::banana:ing hate them.

I refuse to get internet service through any cable company, so the fastest offering from Qwest in my area is 7mb/s download and 2.5mb/s upload.
Which is actually twice as fast as cable in my area

I wish we had Verizon land line service here, then we could get FiOS :(

Your complaining about 8mbps over 768kbps for $80 (Rs.3200 INR)?

We get 1mbps up / down, here for that much, and it doesnt give us stable operation and full speed.
