Are there any non Chip-con Products which can be used instead of sealstring?

I think auto shops use the exact same seal string, and they'll sell it to you for a lot less.

If you've just run out of seal string, though, collect your current/old one into a ball and start rolling it. Believe it or not, you end up with perfectly fine seal string. ;):toast:

I used to use something very similar to seal metal roofing sheets against water leaks. There are probably lots of subsitutes if you look around. :D

I'll have to check around for that. The 1/4" would be nicer than the 3/8" I got at Schuck's Auto Parts. If someone is happy with 3/8" then Schuck is a good source in the US. It was $12 for 15' IIRC.
