how to Vmod 9500pro

Hi All,

I've been trying to do my homework, but I am frustrated with not formulating a clear idea on how to OC and Vmod my 9500pro gc.

So far I have found how to do the nonpro and I have found a site in german how to do mine through searching our forums. I was wondering if anyone has a less challenging link?

I also have some more questions that I posted on the below thread. After awhile I thought maybe this post deserves its own thread.

Also, what kind of flashed bios are you guys using for your card? I have also heard that only 1 out of 3 9500pros are overclockable??? Anybody know anything about this? On another forum somone mentioned having L ram versus straight made a difference??????

If your card have the L shaped layout of the ram it is the same mod as the 9700pro!

Thanks Riska, now I know it aint the 9700 I need. :) My RAM is straight as it gets.

Since on the topic of Rage3d, how do you guys feel about their overclocking patch/software for ATI.

I have it but since I haven't updated the bios/voltmod it really isn't anything for me yet.... or am I missing something? :cool:

Ok everyone,

Here's what I got so far. I got one awesome german site (I think?) :D that tells how to do a vmods for 9500pro and then I have this guys person page that isn't what I call really educational. And finally I have a site for a 9700pro mods, not sure if it would work for my card though, I doubt it. :confused:

As I have been researching vmods I have been researching an unlocking bios as well. Well, I think I'm one of those boards that cannot be unlocked and if so, they don't do worth a darn??

My VRam doesn't have any company name on it but does have f-36 (as far as I can tell after tearing off one of my Vram Sinks) :rolleyes:

So here is the site for Unlocking 9500pro 9500 pro card bios that has been a huge help.

Now the post says 3.3ns work but 3.6ns don't at all or if so not well.

So if I can't unlock there's no point in Vmoding right???

If anyone knows of how I can for sure tell what my VRAM is and what Board to clarify if I can unlock it that would be awsome. For now, however, I'm stuck with the thought I should start saving for a new board.

OK, so I think the 3.3 maybe referring to the bios and not vram... or maybe not because the latest drivers are 3.6... I'm so confused and one frustrated noob

Sounds like you have a card that has Hynix 3.6ns memory. Just flash to "9500WARP.BIN" which is mentioned in the first post in that thread you referenced. Download the "kit" and follow the instructions in the "ATI_FLASH_README.txt". That should allow you to overclock your card.

Are you sure you can't overclock it already? I know some cards come overclockable right from the manufacturer.

As far as volt mod, just read through the following thread...

Well, I guess I'm not sure how to overclock it stock then??? Because I went ahead and dowloaded the rage3D Tweak 3.9 After downloading it, it has an overclocking tab and I can change the chip and vram speeds. But when I do it, it automatically changes to the default speed... ? any thoughts?

I only ever used PowerStrip( http://www.entechtaiwan.com/ps.htm) with my 9500Pro. Give it a try and see if that works. Be sure to do a before and after run of 3DMark just to make sure it does or does NOT work.

Flashing the BIOS is almost like flashing your mobo BIOS. If you do it right, there's nothing to worry about. And yep, you can always flash back to a previous BIOS. Just follow the instructions in that file I referenced above and save a copy of your original/existing BIOS(in case you have to flash back).

By your posts on Rage3d you know your stuff and I appreciate you taking the time to help this noob.

I checked your link on power strip and it looks like no free trial. Not sure if I want to puchase just yet. But, I have to say, having some hot keys for the gamma/brightness is a sure seller for me. Are you a gammer, does it work good?

Another confusion I have been having is finding out the right bios to unlock my card. I have run into "what type of VRAM" you have. Mine runs in a straight line and almost (and actually maybe exactly) like the below pic.

Anyhow, I am now getting a pretty solid feel for the Vmods for the card, but if I can't bios unlock there is no point:rolleyes:

I've read all such of stuff about certain cards not being unlockable. specifically 3.6ns (which I haven't figured out what that exactly means yet??)
