Whenever I run any sort of 3D application, my PSU starts making a very annoying electrical buzzing sound. It immediantly goes away when I Alt-Tab to the desktop or quit the game. I am running on a 8800gts G92 which I have read has this same problem sometimes, but I am certain that the sound is coming from the PSU. Any ideas on how I can make this go away or determine if the PSU is bad?

I would RMA it. PCP&C is good about honoring warranty.

why would you RMA it? you need to find out if it is the card (most likely.) the board, (probably) or the psu. you don't rma something unless you know it doesn't function properly.
if you can try another card try it first, most likely that is the buzzer.

PCP&P recommended that I send it in, so I did. I did several hours of testing and could clearly hear sounds in BOTH the card and the PSU. The board seems to be fine (I took the PSU completely out and powered up and no sound was coming from any area of the board except the GPU). The GPU is getting sent back as well...

OK - RMA'd the Card and the PSU, got both back, put them in, fired up 3D Mark, and heard the same problem, but not quite as loud as before. Fired up NWN2 and sounded like as clicking fan came on (not too loud, but I'm only sitting a couple of feet from the case!). Fired up Dark Crusade - couldn't hear anything...
PCP&C said the PSU was 100% good, so that leaves me with the new card (BFG 8800GTS G92) or the board (Asus Maximus Formula), or it could just have something to do with the NWN2 engine...don't know. I'm going to put Crysis on tonight to see how it goes...

The intro screen on Crysis are very bad - huge electrical noise coming from the card. Once, the game gets going, though, it's fine - not much noise at all. Not sure if this is just BFG or every 8800GTS G92, but it is annoying...

I just started getting a noise from my PSU, too. I live in an old building so at first I thought it was something in another apartment or something, but with the sides of the case off I can tell clearly that it is the PSU. Definitely an electrical buzz of some sort. Kinda' like what you would hear from a fluorescent light fixture.

My 8800GTX and PCP750 combo does this too. It's like the card is the source of the sound and the PSU carries or amplifies it. Swapped in my spare OCZ PSU and only the video card made the noise. RMA'd the PCP750, and the replacement PSU did same thing. Decided to live w/it.... is loudest in 3D benches, not as loud in gaming apps...
