single slot 3870's

i just discovered the sapphire and gigabyte 3870s that use single slot coolers and i really like their price but are the stock coolers actually decent? i wanna hook the cards up to water eventually but that's gonna take a while.

i haven't read any reviews of them. i imagine they wouldn't release cards that are going to overheat, so they're probably just a little louder than the reference design under load.
