VISTA IS YOUR PROBLEM!!!!
The Solution is simple:
In fact its too obvious!!! Go back to XP!!!
Vista is nothing but a huge OBIESE pig with lipstick on it!! In 2 or 3 years when it has been patched all to hell and drivers have been optomized for it... maybe... just maybe I give it a run. But from everything all my IT buddies and family members say (there are alot in my circle) Vista, when you get down to the nuts and bolts of it, is just a big flaming bag of dog poo on your doorstep. MS has just rang your door bell... yelled "candy-gram" and run away!!!

I've never had any problem with Vista myself... Actually I find it much more reliable than XP for now.

Disrupt, just reformat, save your stuff somewhere and take an hour of your time to format and start from scratch ;)

THe last time I had that problem, and a few others ive heard of, it was memory related .. in my case a bad stick... would pass memtest even which was weird.. but new RAM fixed my problem.
Might want to back down the OC on your ram and see if it helps, or try using another kit of ram to rule that out.

OK then. I will not thash this further. Have you found Vista as accomodating as Xp for gaming? And thats not meant to be Rhetorical. I am Genuinely curious about getting as broad a spectrum of opinion as possible regarding XP vs Vista performance as I will most certainly play with vista in a week or two when I DX10 up on my vid card situation.
ohhh NM this guy fixed his self... IMA go get a beer. You want one?

Lol, The only issue I got from Vista was on Crysis, I noticed the DX10 version was sometime a little less fluid than the DX9 version... But since you can choose which version you wanna play with, I just used DX9 Very High mod to fully enjoy the game ;)

I got this problem all the time when I was on Vista. Even Steam didn't work right. :( XP Pro is fine for me now though.

That's the beauty of Vista. :) It fixes itself 90% of the time, unless you really screwed something up.

If you have the latest drivers and you havent downloaded any new ones recently its probably a stability issue with some component. Download ati tool and start stess testing with that see if you get any artifacts. Or better yet, just under clock the core shadders and memory of your video card and see if that helps. If it doesn't try and see if any updates were installed around the time it started happening, maybe try to restore from a restore point. Next I would see if your normal memory is stable... If you make it through all of those....well hopefully you wont without finding the problem. ;)
EDIT: i just realised I missed the part where you said it fixed itself....oh well

I don't mean to revive an old thread but I just wanted to chime in that I had the same problem and I found that bumping up the RAM voltage to the RAM's rated amount, loosening the memory's timings and just lowering a few of the graphic options in the game helps. OC'ing anything doesn't help either.
Does anyone know if they get the same error of "nvlddmkm" with cards in SLi?

To answer my own question - nvlddmkm will still show up in SLi.
Also, I've found a beta driver "174.74_geforce_winvista_64bit_english_beta" from nvidia's website. With the this one installed I was able to run Company of Heroes flawlessly on max settings, even maxed out AA. I think CoH's highest AA is 16x QSAA or something? Either way, it works.
Screen Resolution is also at 1280X768 on a 22"ws.

nVidia is a total disgrace when it comes to Vista drivers. I've had nothing but problems for over a year. A few weeks ago I let Windows Update find my graphics drivers for me and VOILA! No more "nvlddmkm has stopped working".
1. Run ORTHOS at priority 6 (or higher) in Stress CPU mode for at least 12 hours, and repeat with the Blend mode. (If I'm unstable, I usually get Core1 failure between 3 and 14 hours of running Orthos).
2. Run ATI Tool 0.27 beta 4 (works for nVidia cards too)(google it). Run for 6-12 hours. Make sure you get no artifacts. An unstable vid card WILL make your Vista BSOD (eventually).
Ahem...make that 2 years now...and yes, you DO get the nvlddmkm error in SLI mode (2x 7900 GT's from eVGA running on nForce 4 intel edition).
