View Full Version : 8800gt or hd3870
I know that it was discuessed many times but I can't find clear answer on it. Currently I can find both cards within $20 from each other, gt being higher. Looking for a card for 1650x1050 lcd. Something that OC well on air and gives best results, probably would endup using aftermarket heatsink.
I am leaning toward Gt.

Skip it, pay a little more and get the 8800 GTS 512
that what i would do, if not then you go with the GT, it a better solution.

What about on water? (gpu-block)
How much the 8800gt outperforms on water?
AND what about video-input? Which card has better quality video-in?
Thanks :)

a little more? more like $100 more.
to the OP, the GT is a little faster than the 3870. the only reasons i'd recommend a 3870 over a GT is when a) you plan on getting a second card down the road, or b) there is a $40 or more price difference between the two. i suppose the 3870's have the added advantage of running quieter and having HDMI adapters, but most people don't care about that stuff.
if you're running a single card setup and there is only a $20 difference between the two, the 88GT is the better buy.

The 8800GT is $250, same as the 3870 and the 8800GTS is only $300. I don't know where you got your prices from.

Nice finds. Hadn't seen those before, however, their estimated ship times is a bit disturbing for the 3870. The GT would definitely be the best buy then.
