I have had my Mach II for about 4 weeks or so and noticed that my temps were rising about a degree evry few days. At first I thought it was a difference in ambient but after loosing 10 degrees in a few weeks I new that wasn't it. So, I take the thing appart and guess what? It collects dust just like my pc! Cleaned the thing up and presto!, I go from -33 to -44 at load. Hard to believe that little bit of dust and lint could make that much difference but it did. What effect would putting a filter on the front have and would I need to upgrade the fans? Help a noob, please.

You're right about the dust....It's especially bad if it's sitting on a thick carpet and you walk around in front of it while it's running...fibers in the condenser and inside the case big time!
So, keep them clean....care for them.....think good thoughts about them...next thing you know....it's

I've put filter foam out of a $2.00 airconditioner return filter in both my vapochill and the promie. I just used double sided tape to hold it in place and was able to cut 16 out of the filter. It works like a charm but gets dirty very quickly !! I've not had to change it out yet after a couple of weeks but probably need too.

TEll me about it, my dog sheds alot so i constantly need to wipe out all the dust and fur and use a toothbrush to clean the fins of the radiator.

Did you notice a loss of airflow or a change in temps with the filter?

No change of airflow that I can tell, This is what the filter material is designed for. In my Vapochill I have added a second 137cfm fam and replaced the factory one with a 137cfm 120mm so I don't think I'd have noticed any change there. Still haven't done anything to the fans in the promie but haven't noticed any increase in temps.
You know how a fan sounds when it has something in front of it restricting the airflow ?? well it doesn't make that sound ! lol
I saw this posted over at the vapochill forums a few weeks back and decided it would be a good idea, I bought my promie and vapochill used and the promie was full of dust.
