Ever since i installed my water cooling items, i have been getting artifacts on my screen.

My computer setup is:
Asus p5e3 deluxe wifi/ap
Intel Q6600
2GB Asus DDR3 Ram(1333mhz)
EVGA 8800GTS
Ubuntu Linux ATM (but ive tried both xp and vista 32)

Liquid Cooling Setup:
Swiftech apogee cpu block
3x120 Radiator
thermaltake pump
and zalmann GPU block

To begin with i dont think its the cooling, because according to Speedfan and Ntune i have GPU temps of 43 and 47 respectively.

also, when my motherboard starts up it has the Asus express gate Linux thing, and i dont get any artifacts when im in that minor OS.

Things im thinking it could be:
1) maybe i havent put enough thermal compound on the GPU chip
2) my GPU is faulty
3) driver problem (although highly doubtful as i updated/tried every driver i could find for my MOBO & GPU)

here are some screenshots so u can see what im talking about...

So you had the card before the water cooling? Have you overclocked the card at all?

no, and i forgot to mention that, i havent overclocked any part of my system yet.

Yeah i had the card from my previous rig. im really stumped as to what it could be.

***EDIT: I took apart my cooling system and added my other EVGA 8800GTs and i still have the same problems... On my previous build, using the same vga block, i didnt have this problem.

Do you think it could be a mobo problem? like a crinch in one of the pci slots? (crinch, is a, i dunno, malfunction or production error of some sort)

What's your PSU like, enough on the +12v rails etc?

PCI-E forced to 100mhz?

Tried underclocking the card in Rivatuner/Ntune?

my psu is 1000w , and i ahve 6 sata devices on it (4hdds and 2 dvd-r), the waterpump, 4X120mm fans, and the gpu.

Ive tried several different options like underclocking and setting the pcie to 100, auto but in no prevail.

Seems like i might have to just replace it :(

Damn, yeah sounds like it :(

Same happened with my 7950gx2, started glitching when I switched rig and just had to throw it away in the end.

Should still be under warranty at least?

Definitely mobo, psu or ram. Time to start the process of elimination. Got any friends with components you could test with? You could start by testing each stick of ram.

nah its not under warranty, i got the cards when they first appeared in the market... :(

i got components to try out different stuff, the only thing i dont have is ram. not many friends of mine have ddr3 ram either...

In my previous build they worked great.
Asus Crosshair motherboard
DDR2 Supertalent ram (cant remember the exact details)
1200watt psu
amd 64 athlon cpu

by testing u mean remove 1 stick load up system, try again with other etc?

This almost definately has nothring to do with non video system components. (mobo, ram, or cpu). ati tools tests thge video card almost exclusively (even though it places stress on the cpu, and ram.) run orthos just in case to rule out everything but the video card.
I'm thinking you chipped the core's die when you installed the water block, it happened on my x1900gt, and i got really bad artifacts. RMA it while you still can! (try using the other video card on its own, i'm almost sure its the memory overheating, or maybe the shader core, and system components on the 8800 did you put ramsinks/heatsinks on those? they cannot remain bare, especially the shader core.

He said it happens regardless of what video card he uses.

in that case, it's probably the motherboard. Just make sure the shader core/integrated parts of the 8800gts are cooled with at least ram sinks. Sorry for not reading all the previous posts.

so wouldn't that rule out the video cards, if he changes the card, it still happens? if that the case it couldn't be the video card by process of elimination.,.. right?

That's what I said from the beginning. You're guilty for not reading the previous posts, or you're tired and failed to comprehend what they meant. It's OK though, I did that last night after 12 hours of work. :)

the waterblock is a fullcover one. it has thermalpads to cool the other parts...

im on my to the shop to pick up a 3870x2, cause well, my mobo is crossfire, might aswell take advantage of it. right? :D
