I was planning to get an after market cooler for my 8800gt. I was waiting on stock for ARCTIC COOLING Accelero S1 Rev 2 on Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186016) with ARCTIC COOLING Turbo Module Sleeve Dual VGA Fan (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186021). However, today I went to Fry's electronics and saw the Thermaltake DuOrb VGA Cooler (http://shop3.outpost.com/%7BAraGJWJFFi4UFrwwah18VQ**.node1%7D/product/5409529;jsessionid=AraGJWJFFi4UFrwwah18VQ**.node1? site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG) , and almost bought it. However, i wanted to do a liittle more research and see if I can get a cheaper price before I buy it. Newegg has it for $ 43 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835106112), but the cheapest one I found was at etechsale.com (http://www.etech4sale.com/THERMALTAKE_VGA_COOLER_CL-G0102/CL-G0102/partinfo-id-394720.html) which happens to be a local store for me. But still I haven't made up my mind on which one to get. So i wanted to get your input before I buy one. Here are my Four options:

Thermaltake DuOrb (http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Cooler/VGAnCHIPnMEM/CL-G0102/cl-g0102.asp)

You can suggest any other coolers if you know of any good ones...

why not get a VF1000 if you can find it. it is a good deal quieter than the thermaltake and cools nearly as good.

i do have a VF900 on my 8800 GT and is works well but i only got it because i need quiet, i found it for cheap and i couldn't find a VF1000

if you are limiting yourself to the 3 you posted get the accelero one and put a 120mm fan on it using cable ties

Dual orb looks better, it get's my vote even if it loses a load test by 6 degrees C. In the end it doesn't matter. It's what looks good and performs decently well.

My vote goes to S1 and add 2 x 12 cm fan with cable ties. I dont mind ghetto looking style card

the man has a point. the only downside to the DuOrbs as i see it is the Molex connectors. they really need 3-pin motherboard connectors with an optional Molex adapter. it's a pretty big downside to me. i don't want my fans running 100% all the time and i don't want to hook them up to my fanspeed controller (simply because of my custom wiring job and trying to keep things clean).

My vf900 works fine for my bfg 8800gt oc oc'ed to 730/1800/2000.

Quiet and a deal off of ebay for $28 shipped refurbished by a zalman refurb guy called refurbdoc.

I don't think you could overclock an 8800gt much further than that without voltmods or bios volt changes anyways so a vf900 is cheap and will do the job just fine.

S1 no competition.

Great sink, great price. I run my dual GT's with the 1.1V at 750mhz.

Only have normal case airflow, and loads at 58ish. Without the fan modules.

Here's some links to some tests for you.

DuOrb vs VF9000 CU LED: http://www.overclockercafe.com/Reviews/cooling/Tt_DuOrb/pg3.html

DuOrb vs HR-03 GT: http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=493

The HR-03 GT with a good fan is the best of all of them but it's huge and when I say huge....just look at the pictures and you'll see. The DuOrb is smaller and if you leave it on 100% of them, like I do, it's wonderful on eVGA 8800GT SSC.
