Ok I this Acer Aspire 5100 laptop. Just before it freezes it makes a buzz/clicking noise. After this the screen will stay black, or do some random colors. When I reboot it it goes to a black screen, and I have to try rebooting (plug in/unplug) 3-4 times for it to post. I figured hard drive but when I hooked it up to another computer I could not make the noise reappear. I tried booting without the hard drive and experienced the same problem in the BIOS. I then tried different ram with no success. I even tried it with the wireless network card unplugged to no avail. I figure motherboard issue, but I can't say for sure, and the customer doesn't seem like they want to spend much money.
