And guess what, the same drive keeps popping up when i read about the same problem other people are having, the LITE ON DVD/RW.

Got one a few weeks back, was pretty expensive as well, worked fine reading (haven't tried burning or ripping yet) little noisy but not continuous.

I get Crysis today, fresh, put it in, BANG, the drive sounds like its struggling to read it followed by 3 loud clicks, EVERY other disk works and the Crysis one is in perfect condition.

Reading through some forums people have had the exact same problem, and every one of them had has the drive i have.

Any tips on what i should do, i can play it fine, i'll just swap it out for my old Sony DVD Rom, but is this a fixable problem? or should i just get my money back or a replacement?

Cheers.

P.s if this is in the wrong section ect, please move.

P.p.s i am not a noob to building or hardware, so lay it on me if you have any info, never encountered something like this before.

You got a spare drive you can check it with?

Like i said i have an spare DVD Rom.

I have four gaming computers all with a mix of Sony and LG drives, all read the game fine.

This LITE ON DVDR seems to have a problem with Crysis and ONLY Crysis, all my other games, DVD's, CD's programs ect all run fine.

Just finished installing it now on the spare DVD Rom.

Its a bit of a weird problem.

I've read that it's even more difficult for drives to read the crysis CD/DVD than for today's graphics cards to render the game. Which means you're S.O.L.

Checked the lite-on site for a firmware update for your drive? Its a small chance but some companys every once in a while come with updates and sometimes those can help.

i had the same problem with mine...... but i walked off and came back ten mins later and it had read it fine by then.... runs fine once its got it read but i dont see why it has that problem.

but its true, crysis does seem to hate dvd drives aswell as graphics cards.

There are lots of posts in crysis forums about this problem. I have a lite on as well. Think it has to do with their copy protection. Phurn is right, just let it keep clicking a while it usually boots up. After that you might look for a no-cd exe. Not sure I can mention that here.

on a side note, once you do get it to read dont be tempted to leave it in your drive to save hassle the next tiem you boot, it wont boot with the cd in the drive, it just keep clicking before it'l load windows, and that is an endless loop.... unless you wanan change your boot options i supose?
