I am currently running 2 GB and XP 32.

From what I understand, if I were to put in 4 GB, windows would only detect 3.2 GB due to a limitation in 32 bit software (that is rectified by the 64 bit version.)

However, my question is, does this mean that one ram stick doesn't function properly and therefore the benefits of dual channel are neutralised?

Thanks.

I understand all that is in that thread.

I just want to know if dual-channel config benefits are negated by the OS not properly recognizing a stick.

I should assume not, as the dual channel config is not run by the OS so much as the mobo.
