any one know why Vista keeps trying to install drivers for my E8400? and keeps failing?

last time I checked, processors didn't need to have drivers installed, lol. :clap:

Something is messed up, it should not do that.

Delete it in control panels and let it refind, does it ask for it again?

reinstall windows?

When I changed to my e8400 vista gave me a message about new hardware detected and installing drivers. I didnt have to add any new drivers thou.

Besides what it considers a driver in the pic below(intelppm.sys) it adds a couple entry's in the registry under acpi.
