I'm thinking of upgrading from my E6600 and D975XBX2 to a Q6600.
This D975XBX2 has been stable as a rock, but I don't think it can do 400FSB with quad core from what I've been reading. I also am planning on getting 4 x 2GB RAM.
Rest of my system:
8800 GTS 320
Highpoint 2320
X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
so whatmotherboard?

I think you may find it tough to reach 3600 with all 4 banks of memory occupied on just about all motherboards......Might want to settle for 2x2G.

I haven't tried 8GB, but with 4 sticks of 6400 ballistix 450FSB is not a problem on my p5k premium with my q6600 at 3.6 (450x8). Specs below.

Wow, is your cpu really running at 3.6 at that voltage or is cpuz just reporting it wrong? I need 1.448 reported to get that high, well at least at 450, haven't tried 400*9. What speed are you running those ballistix at?

well yah, seems like cpu-z was not reading it properly. the new version of
cpu-z reads it at 1.4xx. not sure the exact number, i will post an update pic
when i get home. it's set to auto in bios thou with the vcore damper enabled.
pretty sweet and stable.

speedfan doesn't show the temps correctly either. it's in the late 50's - early 60's

folding with 4 console instances - 100% load - (24 hours and up for each setting or until crash)
the ram is still my week spot. i tried these settings
1. 800mhz 4-4-4-10 - (3h) nice, very fast but needs 2.3v still not 100% stable
2. 800mhz 4-4-4-12 - (11h)good, almost solid
3. 1066mhz 4-4-4-15 - (39h)good, almost solid
4. 1066mhz 5-5-5-15 - (48+)ok, solid
5. 1066mhz 5-5-5-18 - (48+)ok, solid
6. 1200mhz 5-5-5-15 - (24+)had crashes even with 2.3v
7. 1200mhz 5-5-5-18 - (24+ so far)that's the setting now seems to hold up for now,
auto volt, however cpu-z shows core@400 fsb@1600 divider@ 3:4 so the ram should be 600 but still shows at 533.

I have been able to reach 3.6 with my Q6600 G0 and 8 gigs of G-Skill on several boards, including the Abit IP35 Pro, both the DFI P35 and X38 mobo's (I kept the X38) and now currently on an EVGA 780i. I run it at 3.0ghz for everyday operations, but I always see how far I can push it when I get a new board. I really do like this 780i board. It clocks well, lets me run my Areca 1210 at it's full 8X bandwidth, all with 2 8800gt's in SLI. Sweet.
