Hello. I recently completed a new build that is in my sig.
The MB came with a SupremeFX sound card. I bought new speakers to go with the new system, but I started playing COD4 and the sound effects like gunshots, explosions, etc... were all OK, but when any of the characters talked, it sounds like a low murmur. Couldn't hear anything. Then the sound were come on and go off depending on how I rotated in the game.
So, I switched back to my old speakers to see if it was the speakers and it's doing the same thing. When I'm on the windows desktop I have to physically turn the speakers all the way up and turn the sound via windows all the way up to barely hear music being played through Media Player.
Anyone have any ideas? Or should I just go buy a Soundblaster Audigy?

i think, you changed the channels. just try to re-plug all the cables into the soundcard. supremefx is normally a good solution for gamers.

Are you using 5.1 or 2.1 speakers?
Sounds like you're using 2.1 speakers with a 5.1 speaker settings for the Game. So when the sound is sent to the center speaker that's not there, you loose that particular sound/s. You can check this by turning 90 degrees to either the left or the right and see if a Voice (for example) changes.
If these are 5.1 speakers check your connections, then the Speaker set up in the SupremeFX's Control Panel. Many of these sound systems will have a neat little MIC and Speaker detection app that will correct your mistakes by reassigning the port.
Good Luck!

Thanks man. That's exactly what's happening. If I turn around I can hear the voice fine. So I need to change the setting to 2.1?

Be careful that you don't get the Xtreme Audio. Then give us a link when you see a good deal:)

There are plenty of cheap cards out right now. Although, you only ever get what you pay for. Glad you got your issue fixed.
