Did they fold up shop in the middle of the night? I find it hard to believe that any serious company would let their domain name get hijacked, but auzentech.com is now an advertising site.

Are they in the process of developing linux drivers? I'd strongly consider an Auzentech card over M-Audio if this is the case.

I love when big companies do silly things like this. Including the company I work for. They forgot to pay their phone bill and 200+ technicians nationwide were without our blackberry's which we rely on

Yes they are developing Linux drivers for the X-Fi Prelude that will be released Q1 this year so its not too far away.

Don't want to start a fight or anything but they not developing drivers. Just like any X-Fi user they're waiting on Creative to finish drivers so they can stick their lables on them. If they had to wait on CMedia drivers from that company they damned sure can't do X-Fi's. Anything else is lip service. Would be very nice if they contracted to someone who could though, same goes for Creative.

I get the sense that Creative is customizing special drivers for these X-Fi powered sound cards. And as such, one can tell that the their X-Fi drivers were not designed for this level of customization. I generally haven't had a problem with Creative drivers, but there are lots and lots of customers who have. While the Prelude drivers were stable, be forewarned that at time of review, they weren't quite ready. Also be aware that once you install them, there is no way to uninstall them properly.

Another missing chunk of the software are the Mediasource programs. Generally, Foobar2K or Winamp can do all that you need, but I miss the DVD-Audio player and the Karaoke player. All that power and no karaoke!? Sacrilege!

It seems the whole Auzentech site has been given a makeover, probably why it was down yesterday.

Auzentech have been specifically stating on their website that Linux drivers are being made and will be released in Q1 08 would indicate that they are doing just that, otherwise the company could be sued for false advertisement.

I cant wait even if its only a limited feature set to start off with.

Additional Features Coming Soon

Linux Drivers
The first version of the X-Fi Prelude Linux-compatible driver will be very preliminary: expect high-quality output without the full X-Fi Prelude feature set. This driver will help identify which features can ultimately be made available on the Linux platform in subsequent releases. We will post the feature set as it becomes available.
Available as a future driver : Schedule

Additional X-Fi Prelude Features Coming Soon

What would you expect them say after their hit men are all over the web spreading BS? Anyone who hacked the drivers know they're Creative Drivers with stuff missing or disabled with Auzen advertising. They say the drivers are being made, didn't they say by who? Auzen knows who they're selling the cards and that's who they have get on board.

Seeing as Creative Labs have a notorious reputation for buggy and bloated drivers, it's worth giving a quick mention to the drivers supplied with the X-Fi Prelude here. First things first, yes they are Creative Labs own drivers, from the installation process right through to the control panels themselves. The good news here is that gone are the hugely bloated installs full of applications and auto-starting pieces of software that you neither want nor need - The X-Fi Prelude's setup process installs just the driver, audio console, and a more graphically 'pretty' version of that same console.

One Creative Employee who I'll leave Nameless told me Auzen did work with Creative. Creative should be trying to get the YouP_Pax guys to work for them and whomever else using X-Fi tech.

Auzentech are writing their own drivers for both Windows and Linux. They are using the creative ones to start off with because they havent had enough time to develop their own yet.

Auzentech did make it pretty clear when they launched the card that they would be using creatives drivers to start off with until they developed their own and it doesnt bother me in the slightest because its still better than any of Creatives cards in every aspect.

I agree that the Card is CLEARLY better and it doesn't bother me one bit. I'm glad Auzen pulled it off. I pat them on the back for a great job they did with Prelude. Creative could learn a lot from them. I wouldn't be shocked if Auzen didn't end up like EMU;)

Again, Auzen hasn't written anything according to the last thing I saw. They can spin a good one though.

They have added DDL to the card which would have been done by their devs. Still using creatives drivers for the main part though. I still think they will be releasing Linux drivers just they wont ever get the X-Fi features other than the crystalizer and CMS which would be fine by me.

Whatever happens, the end result will be better than overcoming the learning curve of creating a working .asoundrc file. I've always thought that aside from gaming, sound support in Linux is one of its major weaknesses for anyone looking to ditch Windows.

Now that's true in both cases IMO! But I'm not sure what any of them will do for good Linux support. I also wish Creative would go ahead and fully open its drivers. I even asked one of their employees abou YouP_Pax, they just said No Comment.

I hope for the best whatever happens and I agree, sound is one of only a few things holding me back for Linux and I've already down loaded at least 4 Linux ISO's. I wish I wasn't such a Linux Noob:(
