My sons X800XTPE is dying and I need to replace it. He plays Trainz2004 @ 1600x1200 with almost everything on med now that it's dying a slow death. ATItool show it artifacting at stock settings.
So I found a few Diamond X1950 pro 512MB online and I was wondering if this was the last of the line best.
Thanx
No, there is an AGP 3850, that is the best.

Well, if the 3850 -- I think I got that number right -- makes it out the door soon, you should have Powercolor and Sapphire cards to choose from.
I just bought an eVGA 7800 GS to hold me over until I can afford a new build in the fall. You could always try that. It was only $130 after rebate, including shipping.

i had artifacts on my 9800xt at stock clocks too. it was the thermal paste that dried after two years. u could reapply some thermal paste and see if the artifacts are gone then.
the x1950pro is a good card if u donīt want to wait for the hd3850. no need for a dx10 capable card on an old agp setup anyways... or do u want to run vi$ta?

An 3850?! Had no idea. I think that's a bit much even with an 939 Opteron 185 and 2Gig of ram. Maybe I'll just try a new dose of MX-2 on the card and if that doesn't work then I'll just get the 2nd rate X1950 pro.
