Gentleman,
I need some help picking out hardware for a new rig.
I will be doing some mild to mid air overclocking. Minimal benching- mostly gaming.
CPU: 65 nm AMD X2, i would prefer unlocked multies.
GPU: ATI 3850, not sure what brand to get.
RAM: Mid range DDR2, not sure what brand to get.
Mobo: Would prefer ATI 790 chipset, I will upgrade to Phenom when the bugs are fixed. ATX ff
PSU: ??
Hard drives: 200 GB, RAID not required.
CPU Cooler: No Idea what to get- I would like to have a good performing cooler.
Thanks in advance.

He wants 65nm cpu though, he would have to go 5000 X2 brisbane black edition......although the 90nm 6400X2 is a very nice cpu and is my choice for the larger cache.

Yeah id say 5000Black for 65nm,,He may not be able to run a125watt chip on his Mobo is my guess,,but remeber the 5000+Black@3.7ghz cripples to slower speeds than if you were to run a 6400+@3.5ghz @1.45volts
..For 65nm the 5000+Black @$99.00 is your best bet..Just remeber The cache is alot slower but it will still clock decent..
Also as you increase the overclock and the Volts the TDP goes up anyway!
Either way it will be nice..

For RAM go for the Crucial Ballistix PC5300 RAM, the highest binned D9GMH and easily OC to DDR2 1400.... @ 2.3V..... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146567

Thanks guys,
5000+ black edition looks like a good choice.
I like the Ballistix ram also.
Mobo and PSU suggestions.

I think with DDR2 prices now, the time is right to go for 4Gb of RAM. The kit in my sig and the G.Skill PC8000 stuff perform very, very well for the money and should go to 1100Mhz if needed.
I would team the RAM with the 5000+BE and an Asus M3A32, if your budget stretches that far.

You can balance that budget out a little because quality PSUs are usually much more than $100 and quality coolers are usually much less.
For a PSU look at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151056
For a cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134

For the mobo and PSU these are my recomendations:
MSI K9A2 Platinum (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130136) : The best bang for the buck 790FX mobo.
CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139003) : Enough to handle your system very well.

For a heatsink I would suggest a Thermaltake Ultra 120 Extreme. Nothing seems to be able to touch it =P
For a PSU, If you would like modular cables, I definately love My Ultra X2-connect.
Either way, enjoy your new build =P. Hopefully the setup goes problem free
