This is my first try in overclocking a 790FX chipset. In this bios I don't see any HT multipliers, it says 200mhz up to 1ghz settings so I am confused as to how to get the HT down to 4 or 3 when cpuz says it is 5 but I can't find it.

Also I notice while trying a few settings that my Ram screen no longer has many of the settings it did before. It mainly just has the normal ones like 4-4-4-18 T2. Does anyone know what would cause all those ram settings to disappear? The only thing odd is that before I started any overclocking attempts, I had tried to get into bios but at the blue bios screen it would lock up for some reason just today. I finally pulled the power plug and that took care of it, but I don't see why that would affect the ram settings.

Any ideas here? thanks

I have the first bios with this board F1

Okay, you should read the manual first which will actually tell you that the HTT options do go from 200MHz-1GHz. What they trying to say is that 200MHz = 1x, 400MHz = 2x, etc...

So 1GHz = 5x in this case so moving the HTT option to 400 or 600MHz would be the same as setting 2x or 3x the HTT multiplier. It's just that Gigabyte put the exact speed instead of HTT multipliers that you're used to.

About the 'missing' RAM timings, you need to press Ctrl and F1 at the same time on the main BIOS screen in order to access these settings. The reason for the lock up is perhaps the RAM wasn't getting the info or voltage required and decided to fruck up. By pulling the plug, you restarted it in safe settings for it.

Well the manual didn't quite say it in a way I understood it. Most all of my overclocking is on the 939.

I know about Ctrl F1 but what that brings up is things I have never seen before. The memory and other overclocking setting are always there in the MIT Tweaker menu. Not only are they gone in Cpuz, but I noticed that I no longer have as many options to raise my memory voltage. This board is supposed to go to at least 2.3 but I don't think at this point it will let me get to 2.0.

I think I will clear Cmos and see what that does. I don't think the newer bios have anything I need but I might flash to a newer one if I need to. thanks for the help

Well, try using the AMD Overdrive utility. Usually that is much easier to use and navigate than the BIOS...

Right now I can get into bios. Overdrive doesn't allow me to get to the vid volts. Has anyone figured out why the video volts are grayed out? Actually the Gigabyte Easytune seems to have some good options also but I have tried them yet.
