This has got to be the biggest POS i have ever worked on..........thank god it's not mine, could use a little help.
Raid performance is lackluster if it works, once raid is configured adding another HD on a totally seperate controller destroys the raid array......crashed over 50 times trying to install vista.......performance is something to be desired.
Have update to latest bios........and am testing out of case atm with minimal hardware connected.......
equipment
phenom 9600
asus m3a32-mvp deluxe wifi
kingston ddr2 800 ( qvl certified ) purchased for diagnostic purposes

I would hope so i ran memtest for a few hours as the memory was my first suspect........its just regular ddr2 800 kingston which is on asus's list of qualified modules......Be happy to get it running stable stock....forget OCing atm..
Although i am a newb to am2+ with amd, I do know quite a bit having beta tested the rd580 for ati......

Have read elsewhere, that this is due to issues with the SB600 chip, apparently there are problems with RAID in AHCI mode.
Its supposed to be fixed with SB700 when that comesout, though SB700 has a fault with the internal clock generator, needing an external clock generator to be fitted to the mobo by mobo manufacturers, this fault is supposed to be fixed by SB710.
Seems to me that in the rush to get Spider platform out on the shelves to get some money back in for AMD, who lets face it needed the revenue...!!...then they have made a botched effort of making sure that products are ready, theres the TLB errata with Phenom, not to mention the low clock speeds and poor BIOS support, and then theres this SB600 problem, and now the as yet unreleased SB700 has another known fault, needing another model to rectify it...!!
So I am avoiding buying any AMD product for the time being, I'm hoping that the the Nvidia 780a mobos are going to work a bit better and will be getting one of them, otherwise I'll be wating until at least SB710 mobos are avaialbe before I get an AM2+ mobo......
I just get the feeling that AMD are chucking products out the door in a desperate effort to get some revenue in....!!!!

i have zero problems with the sb600 and raid, works well fast in xp and vista. AHCI does not really work at all and native ide is good but a touch slow.(techreport has the full story)

BTW there seems to be a problem with the driver on the cd.Try these,

Have read elsewhere, that this is due to issues with the SB600 chip, apparently there are problems with RAID in AHCI mode.AFAIK, the problems don't occur when you install XP with SATA drivers and AHCI at the beginning (F6) but if you choose AHCI mode after you've installed XP on the ASUS/MSI AM2+ boards. Or Vista, but then again, that's Vista.
Its supposed to be fixed with SB700 when that comesout, though SB700 has a fault with the internal clock generator, needing an external clock generator to be fitted to the mobo by mobo manufacturers, this fault is supposed to be fixed by SB710.Are you sure about this? They're supposed to be shipping in the Leo and notebook platforms.

I can agree on the rest but poor BIOS support is the motherboard manufacturers problems, you need to contact and give 'em a good telling for that if they give you low quality support.

hmm well i opted for the marvell raid..........so that throws the sb600 problem out of the equasion......might want to note that the manual is wrong and it actually has 2 sb600 sata ports.......and 4 marvel sata ports.....the red is sb600 the black is marvell.......this caused problems in itself till i figured out the dummies who wrote the manual screwed up......
I'll work on it more tonight.......
