you could just get a longer cable and hook the PC up to the TV...
the PS3 isn't doing any rendering this is largely useless
He does not play Crysis on PS3 he plays it on Ubuntu running off PS3 hardware, and even then its just a video feed of the game running on his office PC. He does not even use the PS3 controller he uses a keyboard and mouse, so basically its just PC2PC.

Exactly.
Also induces input lag.

How is this different then from say full screen VNC? The framerate displayed on the screen is stupidly low too. This is everything but useful.

Very Nice, But I see no point in this what so ever. All your gonna do is downgrade your games res making it look terrible, and if you have a bad ass TV, then why the hell wouldnt you just hook the TV up to the PC. This in no way, makes the PS3 more useful.
by the way, his framerates are horrible.

wouldnt this be easier and cheaper, to just get a 50 foot HDMI to DVI cable, and just run the cable to the tv, and use that as a second monitor?
thats what I did with my HDTV, and it works great.

I'm gona agree with everyone and call this pointless. Start porting games like Crysis to the PS3 through Wine and that'd be cool :p:

Wine will not work like that. Wine is not an emulator (its in the name :-P) It only works for x86 machines. You could say wine is a translator, translating English (windows) to French (linux, unix, osx, w/e). Its still "human". Wine can't convert x86 instructions to PPC (which the cell is). It would be like trying to have a meaningful conversation with a gold fish.

I actually read that the PS3 graphics processing unit is blocked off for other operating systems (ex. Linux) via "hypervisor".
Someone should do some tests with running Wine under Linux, and seeing what you can get done.
I fully LOVE how Sony is aware that Linux is possible on their platform, and they don't just shout Humbug and make it a PIA because some genius needs to find away around some brand new "way to stop" Linux.

Once again, Wine will *NOT* work under the PS3, no matter what you do. Wine will only work on x86 computers. You would need an x86 emulator, which would cripple performance horribly, and running wine ontop of that, any kind of gaming would be unbearable :(
