It's dead. At least now you can buy Blu-Ray w/o worrying about obsolete format down the road.

It might be overly futuristic hope in technology in pricing, but I would eventually like to see CD's and DVD's replaced by small data crystals, like on Stargate :)

I would personally love to see Flash based media. Have your movies sold on a thumb drive that is almost impossible to destroy. Perhaps one day, but based on the fact they cant be broken or scratched, I don't see them wanting that.

Nah, the Babylon 5 Data Crystals (http://www.b5tech.com/misctech/householdtech/datacrystile/datacrystile.html) would be so much better.

Now I feel ashamed for remembering Stargate over B5, probably because I got the complete SG1 season 1-10 set for Christmas :)

Actually I would rather see sd cards, they'll be small, they have plenty of space as it is with the higher end ones, it won't cost a fortune to buy an sd reader (so because of that they can be implented everywhere, even in your tv/monitor)

Not overly futuristic at all... IBM has been developing 3D laser written/read storage mechanisms for more than five years. Not that they will spill the beans on every aspect of it, but your comment is more likely to happen than not. Who knows, maybe they got the idea from sci fi ... this concept has been around for decades.

LMAO, If I remember right, all that did was play Steppenwolf.

-Edit: Not that Steppenwolf's bad, but there's plenty more I'd rather do with a crystal, like store every good movie and song ever.

-Edit: Steve Jobs just introduced the iPod Crystal. Now with a Gogol gb of space. I'm in luck.
