Oddly enough, Microsoft itself may prefer Logitech as stock traders speculated that the software giant would launch a takeover bid for the Swiss-based peripherals maker.

Shares of Logitech surged up to 12 percent based on the trader talk, despite comments from Logitech’s Daniel Borel expressing no desire to sell his stake in the company.

"I am a co-founder of Logitech. Would you be willing to sell your child?" Borel told Reuters in an interview. "I have no reason to sell. But I will not be the one to decide. I own only some 6 percent so I will neither enable nor prevent a sale of Logitech."

Buzz circulated in the market that Microsoft prepared a takeover bid of 48 francs per share for Logitech. "Rumours are rumours. I can't make any specific comment on them," Borel added.

This could be either a good thing (Logitech is the same as it is now, but with the wallet of MS) or a bad thing (MS steals logitech's stuff, shuts them down, then trashes the stuff).

Though I would just hope for diversity sake that they stay separate. Logitech does quite well on their own.

We need Logitech!! The best keyboard and mouse manufacturer... I love my Logitech stuff and hate my MS keyboard and mouse (most of the time... MS's old mice were fine like this Microsoft "Mouse Port Compatible Mouse 2.0A"). A non-MS Logitech is the best.

I would say that all my future mice would be logitech but my 518 is so badass that I don't ever see myself replacing it unless it breaks.

I have a Saitek eclipse keyboard though, best keyboard ive ever used.

Microsoft already sells/rebrands Razor mice and keyboards and as far as I can tell does not screw with the design too much. I doubt this would be the end of the world like some of you make it out to be.

BTW, just got back from BestBuy to get my mom a camera(we had about 200 bucks in BB gift cards). Tried out the two keyboards I have my eye on the Logitech Wave and one of the microsoft ergonomic keyboards with a similar design. Both were very comfortable and this makes my decision even harder. The logitech had a great feel and ergonomic keys. Both had a very comfortable wrist pad built in, but the MS one had a ridge in the middle which contours to the natural position of your wrists better.

I love my X-530, one of the best buys I've ever done. Didn't think I could get such sound quality for that budget and I wanted as good sound quality as possible for as little cash as possible and then this is great as it lacks of features etc. which doesn't concern me. Crystal clear treble with better subwoofer sound that expected for such small drive. But it sucks now when I moved into a dorm I can't really turn up the bass at all so I use headphones now.

I pray this won't happen, Logitech is my fav mice & computer speaker manufacturer.

Ehm, probably a shoddy cable with insulating laquer that over time, ground away and now you occasionally short the mouse out. Try replacing the cable, or cutting away the section that's been worn and re-contacting it.
