What's the deal with Thermal Paste?

so latelly I've reapplied my Thermal Paste a few times, first on my old HS, then on my new Thermalright 120 Extreme....

my question is this....is it normal for my first few boots to range in temperature of almost 5 degrees?

ie: first boot after applying Thermal Paste, lets say 35 degrees
then second booth it might go to 40, third, back to about 37-38...just not consistent.....is this the thermal paste settling down? or what?

I know it takes roughly 200 hours for it to settle completely...

P.S. anyone running 2, 120mm fans on a Thermalright Extreme HS?

200 hours burn in ? thats AS5 then.. yeah its temps do jump like that. so stop reapplying it.
