The spec:

MB: Striker Extreme + 1305 BIOS
CPU: qx6700
RAM: TWIN2X2048-10000C5DF
Video: 2x Asus EN8800 Ultra
2x Water Cooling:
1st loop using Nautilus500: NB/SB/Mofset
2nd loop using Swiftech The Apoge GTX, MCP655, BlackIce 360 and 2x Koolance VID-282

The maximum stable speed i get is 312 fsb/ 625mhz ram.

Please help with some advice, i have liltte to no experience with overclocking so please be specific

Thanks

I had one, max fsb was 333 with a q6600 , same with the P5N32 E SLI. Now running 425fsb with the same cpu on a maxumus formula.

The new strikers with the 1305 bios shipped are not clocking well.I think all the good chips are in the 780i

And you'd think for that price, the fsb would be able to go to the moon

Try to downgrade to bios 1303 plz, have you tried 412,415 or even 425FSB, the Striker and many 680i's have loads of FSB holes when overclocking quads...

Set CPU multi to 7 or 8x at first...here's how my board was set up for my GO

FSB (QDR), Mhz: 1800 (means 425FSB)
Actual FSB (QDR), Mhz: 1800
MEM (DDR), Mhz: 850 (means 425mhz speeds)
Actual MEM (DDR), Mhz: 850

Vcore Voltage:set pretty high here mate :try 1.575 to start off with ( will drop to 1.47 or so under load,...)
Memory Voltage:set one or two notches lower than prescribed eg 2.3 volts set 2.25
1.2v HT Voltage:1.6
NB Core Voltage:1.45
SB Core Voltage:1.6
CPU VTT Voltage:1.5
DDRII Controller Ref Voltage:AUTO
DDRII Channel A Ref Voltage:AUTO
DDRII Channel B Ref Voltage:AUTO

tCL (CAS Latency): 5
tRCD: 5
tRP: 5
tRAS: 15
Command Per Clock (CMD): 2 clock (2T)

I've set your ram timings pretty slow just to see if the board will post, if it does you wil have to find out yaself how the board reacts to giving some more or less voltage on the different chipsets... don't try to force ya ram to the specs by corsair as it will not work to clock ya quadcore, best to stay in sync there so 425FSB = 850 ram speed...

If you lost track search for the Striker powns Q6600 thread here...

And you'd think for that price, the fsb would be able to go to the moon

What's the point in your post ? if you don't want to help the threadstarter then don't post at all ...

Thank Leeghoofd, I will try your setting.

I can get it to run stable with 1150x13 =3.7ghz now. Here are the pictures for it

Honestly not many Strikers can overclock quads well, FSB wise. Since you have an unlocked multiplier use that to get where you want and that's about as good as you're going to get it with this board. My QX6700 on my Striker tops out at about 335FSB, never tried with with a Dual core though.

Have you tried Blue aqua to find a sweet spot around 412-415, 425 and 450 ?

My board was fab up to about 360mhz then a big hole till 414, 415 booted, so did 425 and that I used for day to day basis (8x 425) 450 booted too but I couldn't get it stable...

I actually haven't. When I was benching this board I'm not sure that those holes were as known as they are today, and since I've just been running it in a daily rig for now as I've been moving and all of my fun stuff has been in storage.

What is the different between OC fsb and OC multiplier??

What is the different between OC fsb and OC multiplier??

Let's take for eg a Q6600, runs at 9 multi at 266FSB out of the box
if I want to OC the FSB I just up from 266 to eg 333, 400 etc..
If I want to OC the multi this is not possible with normal quads only with QX ( the extreme version liek you have your QX6700) Multi of Q6600 is locked at max 9 lowest is 6, your QX6700 is at 10 stock but can do 14 or such...

So to obtain CPU speed around 3.6gz

with your QX6700 you can go

8 x 450 ( OC FSB -Multi underclocked )
9 x 400 ( OC FSB - Multi underclocked )
10 x 360 ( OC FSB - Multi at stock )
11 x 333 ( OC FSB - OC Multi )
14 x 266 ( FSB stock - OC Multi )
and so on...

For quads most peeps prefer high bandwith which is obtained via high FSB clocks so 400 and above...

I can get the system to run at 3.8 stable if i overclocked the multiplier. As far as fsb goes i can only get it to run at 1333 max.

I tried 9 x 400 and the computer POST but hang at detecting ram :(. Any idea?

400 is a FSB hole for sure with 9 multi, try 412,415 or even 425 first with 8 multi and see if you can find stability there... keep in mind to have the ram on a 1:1 divider... so 425FSB is 850mhz ram speed set

try 401 it jumps to a higher boot strap

yes it is right! my best striker combination was 440MHz FSB + Unlinked memories ...
