Ok i have used 1201bios,,1402bios,,1503bios,, and was able to flash back to 1201bios...I then installed the 1603Beta and now it wont let me flash back to 1201bios,,The 1201bios is optimal for 6400+ and 6000+...

It says that a (Downgrade isnt possiable.):shakes: ..

Ive tried the ASUS update with Downgrade option No Go.
Ive tried using 1.32 AwardFlash tool in DOS says Downgrade not possiable.

The chip ran fine with 1201bios and was upgraded to 1603bios,,So it should still be able to go back to 1201bios i would think...

I would be very happy if some one knows the propper way to flash back to a bios 1201bios.

I cant get past the Downgrade from 1603bios!!!

Had the same issue with 1603 bios on the M2A-VM. It was mentioned in the changelog that the bios has a downgrad protection.

i dont use windows to flash....I tried ASUS update to see what it would say for The downgrade option.. It said Bios not Downgradeable..

I only flash from CD or USBstick...with Afud or AwdFlash or EzBios2....All three options say same thing...I was able to downGrade from 1503 to 1402 to 1201....but cant do 1603 to 1503!...

Im still trying....ive read some where that some one else did succed but used some /tim option ,,but i dont know what that was...im checking Asus forums now as i type this:ROTF:

Try afudos biosname.rom /P /B /N /C
;)

Replace afudos above with afud408 or whatever its called in your bios flash version.

Ofc,you do the above in dos mode, after booting from a floppy.Preferably do the flash from the FAT32 partition.

Nope that dosnt work either...I guess ill keep the Bios :ROTF: It was worth ashot though...Wont let me flash back to any preveouse bios...Oh well...I guess ill keep tweaking untill i get a B3 ;)

Thanks for help every one..

Ok ive discovered the 1603 bios settings like the memory running around 400mhz even with 1066! L@@K at 1201bios superPi @500mhz 4-4-4-6 2t TRC18 and then the 1603 bios superPi @ 387mhz 4-4-4-12 T1 TRC21:D

The ram timming in new bios is what was killing my 3Dmark06 scores....For some reason the Chip would lag with 500mhz memory...Using the same memory i set the Ram divider to 667=387mhz and then set the timing to 4-4-4-12-1T TRC 21 ..

Im not done benching yet but here is a Screen of my SP1m of 1603bios...The 1603 when properly tweaked is faster now than the 1201bios..Wierd stuff...:yepp:

My SuPI 1m with 1201bios Memory @4-4-4-6 2t TRC18,, 500mhz= 25.890s
My SuPI 1m with 1603bios Memory @4-4-4-12 2t TRC18,, 500mhz =26.100s
My SuPI 1m with 1603bios Memory @4-4-4-12 1t TRC21,, 387mhz =24.750s
My SuPI 1m with 1603bios Memory @4-4-4-12 1t TRC21,, 388mhz =24.640s
The setting are totaly different from the 1201bios to make it run the same or better in this case....Ill post new 3Dmark score later...

The best 3Dmark06 on the 1603bios so far was only 12770+ with 950//2322//2250...becuse of the different Ram timing programed into the Bios..

After hours of screwing with the crap im now happy to say ive made some progress!

Eprom-Burner was my first idea. :)

Hmm not too familiar with how to do Eprom-Burner ,,but for now ive tweaked the 1603bios back up to (Better than 1201bios performance),,with different memory settings..Asus tweaked this bios more for Phenom...Im just glad that i know its capable of the same speeds i had with 1201...

Im happy for now....I hope when i drop in a B3 i will beable to adjust stuff easier than what i just went through:ROTF:

Just note: Anyone who is going to use 1603bios..((Get very familiar with memory settings on this Mobo))...Makes a huge differance between 1201bios and 1603bios settings when it comes to ram timing and HT dividers..I cant run any of the Same settings as to what my 1201 bios had with out suffering a performance drop...

you will have to learn all the settings as if it were a new mobo:yepp:

thanks again for everyones help

You can flash back to 1201 by flashing with Awrdflash (ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/flash/AWDFLASH132.zip) (ASUS DOS tool) and /F (Force flash) command. Like this:

awdflash 1201.bin /py /sn /f

I did it with awdflash 119 (should work with the 132) and bootable USB pen.

This is my major gripe with Asus, and it is part of most all their boards. I cannot downgrade my P5W DH either after a certain BIOS rev... well I probably could but did not jump through the hoops.
