Been a long time since i posted here due to work reasons and i can see how far things have moved along since i been away....
but i could do with some of your expert help.
i upgraded to vista 6 months ago and since then i have had all kinds of problems and bugs and i am at my wits end trying to fix them.
i have updated my bios to the lastest and tryed to reinstall vista about 3 times and i cant get rid of USB bugs(wont recognise usb drives) and also a major problem with my Nvidia drivers crashing and recovering everytime i try and game.
i always install the OS at stock and not at my 3.4ghz overclock.
i just scored 3035 3d marks in 3Dmark06!!!!!!
Crysis wont even run at 800x600.
i have a feeling this mobo that im using which has been a disaster since it was launched - hense the 7000 post thread on it is somehow to blame?
i really dont know where to turn now.
any help is much appreciated.
many thanks.

Well ive emailed Asus with all the problems i have had over the last 12 months with this board. also enclosed a link to the 7000 post thread and explained how this is unacceptable from a premium board.
i am waiting on their response to changing this board for me for a different model

try window xp and you will get different results . As for low 3dmark score, it prob because the PCI x1 bandwidth problem, set PCI frequency to 110 in bios, you should be able to fix it.

I would think that with the super pi score something is wrong with your cpu settings.
It shouldnt be 25 secs with that cpu at 3.4 ghz.
I would verify the cpu is indeed running at 3.4ghz while in windows first with cpu-z or something.
I used a e6400 ced to 3ghz on that board with vista for a few months and it worked fine, the superpi score was in the 17-18 sec range. *shrug*
I found that with Vista many games don't work, or work poorly or will work only for a short time...then AppCrash. Not sure how 3dMark and other benchmark programs work in Vista, but that may be at the root of your problems.
I had Vista for a couple of months and it was an incredibly frustrating experience. I switched back to XP Pro and it was like a breath of fresh air and everything works again. Now my computer works as it should, dumb and dutifull.

What?! That thread is so long because of the dedication posters put into it, and it's a great board. even though becoming a little outdated since Intel p35, x38.

i have an original revision.
its ok for you to say this is a great board but it isnt. my fsb wall is about 380. i can only generate 1.65v on the northbridge where as the new revs can do 1.85.
there is 48 bios revisions for this board and none and i mean "none" of the mem dividers work at all apart from 1:1
but i have found a problem in vista with the Nvidia display driver nvlddmkm.sys
this one file is causing thousands of people problems with their systems. once it crashes then your entire pc is stuffed until you reset it.
the same happens on ATI systems to.
maybe because my system is pre vists and only the new systems since are more compatable.
but i think both will be sent back to Asus to sort out. as neither gfx card or mobo have ever been any good, especialy on vista
