My friend has got a Dell Dimension 9100 and he had a powercut and managed to bust the mainboard. It will not keep its date and keeps saying lower power, even when you put a new battery into the board.

So we have purchased a new case with 350watt ATX power supply, 2 GB of 533Hmz Ram as recommended. From the previous system we have fitted a P4 3.0Ghz with HT, 250GB WD hard drive, ATi x300 PciE 16x graphics card, creative sound card and TV card.

Everything has been fitted as per instructions and previous knowledge, however the system powers up, but the monitor will not turn on?

The mainbord is a brand new ASUS P5LD2 SE?

Any ideas?

in fact you guys bought complete new pc, too admit 350 generic PSU's are really not my thing, have you tried with one dimm ? , maybe the vidcard also got a a shock and is inoperative... can you try some of his stuff in your rig ?

Everything worked fine in the original PC, it even booted into windows on the odd occassion. The faulty part was the main board. I will try one dimm, although I find it highly unlikely that the brand new ram and board are faulty.

I am off tomorrow so I will experiment with parts; maybe I will put everything back into the old machine and see if thats the problem.

The thing that concerns me is that everything has power, the motherboard green light is on, however the monitor will not turn on and the screen will not turn on. I do not here the bios beep either.

Anyone got any ideas in the mean time. This is looking to be an expensive favour on my part.
