I was just looking around on Xoxide website tonight and noticed there pictures of the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme looks lapped. The site does say "Customer Product Images" so maybe this guy already did it. I get my 120 eXtreme tomorrow. Should I Lap it or not?

I would try it first without lapping it and see how your temps are, but most of them are very congave , but if u lap it u should also lap your cpu to get a better gain( be aware of you will voiding your warranty, so I wont encourage u to do that). Lapping both my TRUE and cpu, i had 13c drop on load during prime

Well technically most heatsinks are lapped, just by a machine and so they can't all be perfect.

$99

I could have got mine for CrazyPC for $75, but I waited to long and there out of stock.

So I order mine for FrozenCPU, and it's at my shop waiting for me. Now I just need to get some sand paper.

It's not that hard to lap it yourself lol. And during the monotonous lapping process, you can have profound introspection and solve all your life/overclocking problems! :)

You just have to find a piece of glass and some 400, 800, and (optional) 1500 grit sandpaper. I work in an antique furniture gallery and we have a big restoration crew. They have glass everywhere. Just got a piece a bit bigger than a sheet of sandpaper.
