with the release of intels 45nm Dual and Quad cores getting very close i predict a lot of threads popping up left and right with questions like: "does mainboard x support 45nm dual cores?", will a Q9450 work in mainboard x?"..

so i went to my old friend google and asked him for a little help.

Asus:
linky (http://event.asus.com/mb/45nm/)
Note for P5N-T:
With 0502 Bios it supports both 45nm Dual and Quadcores linky (http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us)

Gigabyte:
linky (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/FileList/WebPage/mb_070713_45nm/tech_070713_45nm.htm)

Msi:
Linky (http://msicomputer.co.uk/html/popup/supportmodel/index_2.htm)

Foxconn:
linky (http://www.foxconnchannel.com/Product/Motherboard/45nm/index.html)

Abit
Abit didnt update their Compability Check tool yet to include 45nm cpu's, (last update dec 07): linky (http://www.abit.com.tw/cpu-support-list/index.htm) the individual product sites however do say if they support them or not.
Abit IX 38 QUAD GT Supports both 45nm Dual and Quadcores.
Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI Supports both 45nm Dual and Quadcores.
Abit I-N73HD, Abit states 45nm support, not specified if dual and or quad's though.

DFI:
all DFI p35 and x38 based mainboards support 45 nm CPu's.
the DFI P965-S supports them with the 11/15 Beta bios (http://us.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/bios_download_us.jsp?PRODUCT_ID=5276&STATUS_FLAG=B&SITE=US)

XFX:
Their 780i board supports both 45nm Dual and Quadcore.

EVGA:
Their 780i board supports both 45nm Dual and Quadcore.

Anandtech article on 45nm compability topic: linky (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3138&p=1)

i'll try to keep it updated, if anyone finds any more lists, please feel free to add.

thank you for this list sir, i cycled through a few and i see 3- (asus p5k) and 4-phase (foxconn p35a) pwm support throughout the manufacturer's lists, which means the 4-phase dfi p35 dark should be supported as well.

sorry maybe i ask this in a wrong topic, but does anyone have any real info on how well are wolfdales clocking on Asus's 965' boards? on P5B Dlx for example? :D
Thanks for links to those compatibility lists anyway. I met some of them before, but now it's nice to see all of them in a single place :)

Hmm the Asus compatability list states that the P5N-T (780i) board does not support 45nm quad core CPUS. In fact none of the P5N series has the checkmark to indicate support.

This (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=2641289&postcount=47) post however shows a P5N-T running a Yorkfield QX9650. Does the lack of "support" according to Asus indicate that they do not officially support these CPUs at this time, and that they may or may not work?

I had this bios flashed on my board which ive sold now, but i put a E6750 in, ok i know its not a 45nm, but surely it should have worked. It just continually looped with no boot.

prolly just means that the support isnt official yet.

I checked here: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
And put in support by cpu then selected the E8500 and QX9650.
Shows P5N-T Deluxe,rev 1.02G,Bios 0502 for both.

Interesting. I'm running 11/15 right now. No problems at all.
