it's not my own review and the date is December 31 , 2007 but I must post this :D Everyone speak that the TR 120 EX is the best cooler today... let's see that... (i was very suprised)
The Coolink Silentator is truly one of the best coolers I have used in my lifetime. I used to think that the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme cooler was the best air cooler available, but the Silentator proved me wrong. The Coolink Silentator showed that it can outperform other coolers without a problem and keep the processor nice and cool even at overclocked speeds. In fact, I have decided to use the Coolink Silentator in the next computer I build.

Sorry, but the silentator doesnt perform that good, i have a review sample of that heatsink and ive tested it 6 times already on multiple combinations, it doesnt even come close to a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme. I was even planning on using it on my brothers new computer but the Zalman 9700 was a better choice. Its possible i got a bad one, but i doubt it, since we have already seen reviews of its sister heatsink, the noctua one.

I saw your review and i was not sure what review should i believe... He tested it and get super result. But also, I don't believe that the Silentator can beat TR120EX.
(sry for posting that rewiev then but i was suprised when I saw result)

Perhaps maybe he mounted the TRUE wrong or somthing, but if the silentator even came remotely close to the TRUE im sure i would know about it lol
Just by looking at the heatsink i know its 100 years away from beating the TRUE 120, Heatpipe count, fin area and look at thow the base is..

Yeah, that reviewer must've messed up with the TRUE. And he said the base with the Silentator was smooth... yeah, I don't think 'smooth' when I can VISIBLY see a pattern on the base.
EDIT: But that's not to say that the TRUE's base is smooth when you get it, either.

Dont get me wrong, the Silentators build quality is FANTASTIC, by far the best ive ever seen, but without beefier heatpipes it just doesnt compare.

it loooks like there wasnt the heatload for the true, the stock e6600 isnt very hot

dunno... maybe he had a true with a bad mount and coudnt be bothered fixing it?

I've always wondered why engineers choose to line up heatpipes. Won't this starve the heatpipes behind the first of some air?
I believe that TR's U120E benefits from a staggered heatpipe arrangement to take full benefit of the airflow, as well as the bent wingtips to increase SA.
Another thing I never understand is people putting little HS's on the pipes - this merely creates thermal deadspace where heat won't be wicked away, just like on Scythe's lineup of coolers - and this is why I will not buy scythe HSFs.

the heatpipes transfer heat not dissipate it, the fins do the work so they are lined up since the more flow that hits the fins the cooler it runs

heatpipes also dissipate heat as well as the fins, his logic is correct.

The reason why I say this is because I believe each heatpipe isn't being used to it's full potential.
Even with the TRUE. I bet you all 6 heatpipes are not even nearing their max dissipation because they are being restricted by neighbouring pipes / simply not enough fin surface to dump their heat into.
For a great example look at the Tuniq tower. Three pipes, each evenly spaced with it's own fin area solely dedicated to it, and the fan services all three sections at once. That's why I believe the Tuniq has been able to offer great performance for so long. As well as the base- it is no frills and has been minimized so that as much heat is dumped into the pipes as possible.

Why do all the install diagrams show it has 4 heat pipes when it only has 3?

Sorry but I had to LOL at the name...Silen-tator.. I somehow see a Spud jammed on a CPU...

Fantastic yes, but still leaps behind TRUE.

What it does come close to, is the Thermalright Ultra 120 (not eXtreme)
when used to cool an AMD chip, at least according to FrostyTech:
EDIT: Oh interesting... just notice it actually beats the TRUE, which is Ranked #4

lol on all reviews you can see that U120 xtrem beat the U120, so he have to be first.
Well the temps do look about right for the TRUE on the diagram. Those are what temps I get with my TRUE and one fan.
