I want to cut 2x 2" holes in the middle thin aluminum plate of the V2000 case. I think the best way would be to use a knockout punch but I don't want to pay the insane price for a 2" punch just to use only twice... The only other option is to use a holesaw. Now is there any methods for getting a nice cut without the holesaw moving about and scratching the aluminum around the hole?

Have you looked to try to rent it from a shop for a few bucks? Find a sheet metal shop on a slow day and give the guy a few quid? Might even make a friend for later projects. Walk in with a cool snack or a 6 pack of beer buried in a bag of ice in a plastic bag.....
A hole saw for a 2" won't be as nice as a punch out.

well I guess when I get back to school I'll check out the machine shop. Worst comes to worse I buy one on ebay for $50 and sell it after I use it. They seem to give extremely nice holes in thin metal.

Go to an ac Shop or sheet metal shop they'll have punches to knock the holes out for relativly cheap.

you can try a saw attachement for the power drill , aluminum is quite easy to cut instead of metal , so you can give it a try.
