Right first off, this might sound quite noobish :( , but i've only just "experienced" a possible problem with it. So here goes.

Back in May i got myself a Tuniq Tower 120 to cool my E6600. Just recently i've found an Enzotech Ultra-X ( 2nd handed from a reviewer ) for cheap, and in the Netherlands. Which was the cooler i wanted to get in the first place instead of the Tuniq.

Anyway i found that i had to remove the backplate, on the back of the socket area for the cooler attachment. Which was quite a pain, as it was pretty much "glued" on the back. I managed to remove it by heating it first, but now that whole sticking bit cannot be used anymore.

Now i'm wondering, how do hardware reviewers or you guys that pretty often change cooling cope with it? Do i actually have to make it stick to the mainboard?

Thanks.

They all work fine without sticking them to the motherboard. As you found out, it makes it a real pia to remove.

Aha, exactly what i thought :P. Just fitted the Enzotech and afterwards thinking to myself, was it really necessary to stick it on it again? Ah well, something to take with me in the future :D. Thanks.

if NOT sticking that cooler backplate to mobo - only problem is - it may (it will) get loose and move away from place - when you may have a reason to dismount ur heatsink and have (want) to leave Mobo in the case(box) ..

just recently had the same myself - when dismounted TRUE120 with also UN STICKED backplate - it just got loose and - next - had to dismount mobo and etc stuff out of case to get it back - anyway, there will be no problem - if you have kinda special mounting hole in ur chassis (mobo's mounting plate .. ( some brands have this feature )
