My good friend Andre Yang as nice enought to send a very special CPU - stops a -110ºC with LN2 but until then is a crazy overclocker.

Vince also tested and booth think: this is the CPU for Pedro cascades :D

I tested in a un-moded Foxconn Mars (even does not have the vdroop mod done yet) - thanks a lot Sham for this great motherboard

First here is a pic of the temperature in the Mini-Cascade evaporator while runnig my favorite game :

A SuperPI at 5.650Mhz - 470MHZ FSB

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/QX9650_5641_Mars.jpg

Finally a quick run of my favorite game with a stock 8800GTS 512 with very low clocks - 790-1090

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/92781_8800GTS_QX9650_5500.jpg

This crazy QX9650 runs 3DMark at 5.500MHz with only -85ºC

Can't imagine what it can do with the dual rotary cascade that is almost finished :D

Thanks a lot Andre

any coldboot? mine starts at -35

But the chip died unfortunaly :(

Great chip Pedro, 5500MHz on a mini - cascade is a hell of a freq ... ;) I don't even want to imagine what freqs this chip is going to achieve with a cascade ...

@Rol-Co: OMG ! 5700MHz 1M @ -68 C ... Amazing chip ... too bad it died ... :(

Nice chip pedro , had same sort a chips overhere 5700 1m @ -68 (coldbug)

No cool boot on Foxconn MARS (P35), only on Maximus Extreme (X38).

Coold boot is really motherboard and Bios related - Maximus Extreme seems too be one of the worst mobos in terms of coold boot :(

Rergarding Coold Bug - as write in the 1st post on this thread, with it this chip Kingpin experience full coold bug at -110ºC, but until then overclock like crazy.

So my new cascade can not pass -110, but that is not a problem

This is really a chip for cascades, not for LN2 :yepp:

hmm had different chips with a maximus extreme and maximus formula but all different coldboot, you sure its the board only??
some did boot at -85 some at -35/-40

I re-test the CPU Air Cooled (Tuniq) and here is the result :

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/QX9650_47500AR.jpg

4.750MHz air cooled superpi 1M benchable :D - using WinXP not tweaked at all for superpi, so 9.7sec is not to bad for air ;)

My new cascade (dual rotary) is ready - as usual Ricky did an extraordinary work

-110ºC idle
- In load never ever goes above -100ºC - even in the 2006, with 4 cores, in the brutal CPU Test

Here it is 2 quick tests taken when we are calibrating the new cascade..

5.300 MHz in 2006 so easy, with 1.88v and big vdrop (Mars not moded yet) with evaporator always at -100ºC or less :D

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/3dmar06-5300.jpg

5.600Mhz in My Favorite Game also very easy - just lobbies with non-OC 8800GTS to test stability in 3Dmark2001

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/5600-3dmark01.jpg

Ricky will post some photos later.

Next day gonna be fun, with some nice runs on my favorite game :D

Great work Ricky, you are really the sub-100 cascade master

Some results

SuperPI a 5.700 (not optimized by any means)

And the good old Hexus PIFast

Thanks, the cascade is to much sexy in fact, to bad the Maximus Extreme does not hold so much sex  - I mean it coold boot at -70ºC so is almost impossible to use :(

Testing a DFI X38 now, already run my favorite game with 2 ATI's at 5.570Mhz, but the mobo is really strange and shut down after a few mins at -105ºC, 1.92V - I suspect is the Digital PWM's that dont hold the high voltage...

Can't wait to test the new Foxconn X48 DDR3 with this nice CPU and cascade - I have big faith on that moterboard - come on Shamino hurry up :yepp: ;)

Digital PWM is very different. I think you try 1.6V+116%~117% is enough.

Thank you Andre I will try no more than 1.6v + 117,0% :yepp:

Your fantastic CPU really deserves a better X38 / X48 - Shamino mentioned that Foxconn X48 dont have any coold boot problems, I'm sure will obtain good results in the new cascade.

In the Foxcomm Mars I can run my favorite game at 5.600MHz, if the X48 is the same we may see nice read video card figures :D

Will ask Ricky to post details on Phase Change section - the cascade is basicaly 2 rotarys (404 1st stage + ethylene 2nd stage) and very good calibration from Ricky. He is really a perfectionist the cascade dont go out of his garage before he see less than -100ºC runnig 2006 CPU test with 4 cores enable and near 1.9v vcore in the Foxccomm Mars.

That's the 2 key factors of sucess in OC and Cooling : talent and persistence - Ricky have massive portions of booth :)

which BIOS for X38 DFI ?
I tried to have a run under cascade but she doesn't boot at all (just really a second od power on and then stops).

On DFI P35 things are ok and i know where are the cb temperatures....

With latest Bios - Date Code 2008/01/11 - http://us.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/bios_download_us.jsp?PRODUCT_ID=5719&CATEGORY_TYPE=MB&STATUS_FLAG=A&SITE=US

Boots OK, no coold boot at -108ºC but then after a few minutes at .5.600Mhz, 1.92v (1.600v+1,185%) just turn on and gives strange codes on display (88 or worst) have to wait or even remove the CMOS batery..

As Andre sugests gonna try this DFI X38 with less Vcore, hope Digital PWMs hold it, have and blowing on the PWM area but seems not enought

Anyway this board miss DDR3 after see more 13.000MB/s on Everest with my Celshocks at 2.000 7-6-5-18 see just 10.000MB/s with Corsairs DDR2 its a bit frustanting :shakes:

My results are all using 12-05 BIOS, include my 3D Mark testing at 5.8G.

I didn't meet any cold boot and cold bug at this bios, so I never chagne any bios until now.

I don't know what is different between 12/05 and 1/11. I think 12/05 is good for my all testing QX9650 under LN2.

if its not too much what is the stepping/wafer number on the back of the CPU. Because i think you would definetely need below 15 on the last two numbers as i ve never seen a chip like this with numbers above 15.

Jourdog.

AFAIK, those codes have nothing to do with wafer. They are randomly generated to track CPUs. :)
