My new cascade is almost ready (testing leakage) so is time to test the Foxconn Mars (the best P35 I ever tested) with a stock EVGA 8800GTS 512.

Here is a photo of the setup :

The EVGA 8800GTS 512 does very easy 800-1100 - using SATA disk so PCIe is only at 120Mhz..

First a 2006 run with 4 cores not maxed

18K 3Dmark 2006 on 1st atempt not bad ;) - let's move to My Favorite Game :

84K all air, I'm impressed :yepp:

Nice scores Pedro ;)

Can you give us some appreciation about the Mars?
I'm very curious to test one of them - but 1st I need to forward my money to some X38 mobo to play with 3870CF :)

Can you check what's the max PCIe Freq. you can reach when you'll start benching under your mini-cascade and PATA disk? - I know that you'll do that:D

Obrigado,

The Yorkfields are making the air numbers look surreal these days. :D Very nice scores as always.

I can't wait for the dual core wolfs to come , 5ghz on air easy...

Looking good Pedro  The 3D 01 84k run is tweaked or what ? Now, as far as the 3D 06 run is concerned, I fully agree with you, ain't bad for first run ...

Yorkies are really marvelous ... No need to compare them with the Conroes and the Kentsfields even on air ... I'm not even gonna talk about water / ss / cascade / di / ln2 ... :p:

Keep pushing it Pedro :) ;)

I am afraid I have to disagree ... Neither E8400s nor E8500s can so far do 5GHz on air ... not only that, but certainly it's not EASY ... ;) 4.6GHz on air, yes that's easy, not only for CPU-Z validations but also for SPi 1M runs ... even 3D benching (ok might be a little lower for 3D, let's say 4.4GHz ?) :)

Thanks ;)

Just the basic tweaking - this SATA HD was ATI tweaked :D

I use LOD 4.8 on all tests - Lobbies -> CH -> Dragos -> CL (just 1x) -> Nature - maybe is not the best runnig order with Nvidias, but with ATI does wonders ;)

Nice scores Pedro ;)

Foxconn Mars is, by far, the best P35 I ever tested - and as you know I tested near a dozen of P35 mobos in 2007 ..

Even without the mods (Vdrop is the most need mod) the board is very solid, have great YF support and very good chipset optimization - after all one of the guys in charge Foxconn Mars is one the best overclockers in the world and, for sure, one the most nicest person I ever meet.

Shamino knowledge of overclocking really produce quick results on Mars series - the next enthusiast motherboard from Foxconn (X38 with DDR3) also gonna be a blast.

Testing max PCIe have to wait, need to create a new PATA HD to Nvidia cards (the other PATA is ATI tweaks only) that will be ready in next days when me and Ricky gonna calibrate the new dual rotary cascade , no doubt that Ricky will produce another masterpiece like the mini-cascade was ..:yepp:

BTW the Foxconn Mars can do easily sub-10 spi1 1mb with QX9650 2 cores air cooled, here is it :

Peddy,, I can't wait to see your Cascade results... I think you have a strong Yorkfield,, I feel it :) just need some cold , I have one retail that's only 4.35 with that same Tuniq Cooler and one ES that's 4.2 with that Tuniq :D
And that 8800GTS 512 is a real clockers from what I've read, Ricky's -100+C Cascade on and you should have some real 01 fun!

Yeah that CPU is by far a great overclocker on air.
Beats my water results.

Very impressive air scores. Sub 10 and 84+ on air.

I think I'll buy a Wolfdale E8500 when they come out as a "budget" chip which should do well on air.

What LOD for each test and order do you use for your favorite game with 8800GTS 512 ?

I have an EVGA 8800GTS 512 too, like you.

Thank you .

have you done testing with DFI P35's? What's the main differences between the Mars and the DFI P35's? I know that former DFI engineers worked with Quantum Force to develop the Mars or so I've heard, so can you tell me the difference?
