Ok, I've did my research and read quite a bit. The 8-pin aux molex connector which is used by graphics card/motherboards are mainly 4 x 12v and 4 x ground.

It means, I can use my 6-pin connector plus another 12v and ground from a normal 4-pin molex connector. A simple mod would get me the 8-pin power? Someone please confirm as I wouldn't want to burn my hardware :D

The 8-pin graphics card connector uses a different pinout.

Are you sure? My PC P&C PSU has 6 pin PCI-E connections that just add on another two pins to create an 8 pin, making all connectors usable with any card.

Works great on my 2900.

Thanks for proving my point Truckchase!

Notice the extra connectors are both ground, neither are +12v.

That's weird. I really don't understand what's the point having additional 2 grounds?!

Ok, that means I can just convert my 6-pin connector and make it a 4-pin. In total, I will have 2 x 4 pins = 8 pins for the motherboard power.
The ones on for the motherboard should look like this:

Ahh, I misunderstood what you were trying to say. I thought you were implying that the pinout of the original 6 pins was different as well. Oh well, glad I could help anyhow.

If my PSU doesnt have that 8-pin for graphics card, all I need is to get 2 x ground and I'm good?

only the X2900XT's needed the 8-pin to overclock didnt they? Just a gator clip to bridge the last two pins was the trick for them.

Yeah, last 2 grounds. Some people that doesn't know might end up buying a new PSU just for that.

to not risk frying anything, why dont you just buy a new psu, they are not that pricey and you dont run the risk of blowning anything up. just makes sense in my point of view.

Buy a new PSU just for 2 ground wires? I don't think I'll do that :) You won't fry something if you know what you're doing. Plus, this is the xtreme mod section :D

whatever bro, even it is the xtreme mod section, i wont be the one that told you so if you fry something.

but go at if you are in the terms of KNOWING WHAT YOUR DOING. g/l

Just plug a standard 4-pin p4 connector into it. It will work fine.

that would kill a card:shakes: the wiring is different, you would be supplying 12 v instead of ground.
