While I have my pc apart I notice that the southbridge chip is showing signs of running hot, is it ok to epoxy a heatsink to it to keep it running cool?

This would be a custom thing as I have hsf's @ my disposal.I was going to cut to size and use ceramique and crazy glue!good idea? Or should I use some arctic epoxy? I am kinda broke so....

Thnx for the input.

epoxy? no its not, epoxy is gona hold heat in, you need thermal adhesive if there are no mounting holes.

Id go with some regular thermal adhesive rather then trying to mix ceramique and glue.

Thnx, So it would be ok even though the chip is exposed?

Guess I'm going to have to spend 15 bux on some arctic allumina?

ive heard of people mixing their own before b4 without having a problem

Arctic Alumina is your best bet. Although it should be extremely hard to remove it once it's mounted. And I though Alumina was closer to 7 dollars, as per Spawne32's link.
