Bleh smokes my 640mb 8800GTS too :(
My max is 14.3k @ 3.6ghz.
My CPU speed is 500 points higher at the same clockspeed? Keep tweaking! You should be able to easily break 16K, maybe even at the same clockspeeds :)

Nice score man!
I have 2 of these cards on the way from EVGA to use in SLI.. can't wait to see what kind of scores they can give me.
Once I get my quad core installed, I hope to be hitting some 20k action!

Nicely done. I'm at 15.2k with my Q6600 and 8800GT. Those GTS's definately overclock a bit better than the GTs.

nice scores !! How is this possible tho...
I have a q6600, 3.6ghz, 8800 ultra, 700mhz core 1690 shader 1200 memory, and can barely pass 15k.Why is that ?? In games my ultra plows both the g92 gts and the gt, especially at high res...am I doing anything wrong ? Arent 3dmarks supposed to tell you the effectivness of your system ??
Yes but some cards perform very good in 3DMARK and lose in games to others

Ultras perform very good in 3DM06 as well, I would have to guess somethings not all right as my Ultra unclocked with Quad at 4G is around 15,3 and change on water.

Run the RAM higher if you can. 1200 at cas5...should give you a little boost in performance. :)
You guys with your quads...
I'm knocking on the 16K door with just a dualcore:

Hmm that's not good imo, I have a similar setup... Q6600 at 3.6Ghz, memory at 541 Mhz together with an EVGA 8800 GTS 512MB SSC (@ Core 800, Shaders 1900, Memory 1185) and I get around 17k (It was 16850 or so) in 3d06....
Befor I had an 8800 Ultra, same setup... clocked 684 core and 1161 memory which gave me around 16100 in 3d06....

ok but futuremark say's Processor clock 4059 MHz not 3600 maybe it's a bug because your cpu score 5700
anyway
should i overclock vga ram's ?
vista is causing performance drop so I get less score than XP

Most of the high scores use "tweaks" to get there. I leave everything in the CP the way I play my games, which is highest quality with all optimizations disabled. None of that LOD adjustment B.S. I score 13.7k (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=5516047)on an EVGA 8800 GT SC @ 720/1805/1940 and E8400 @ 3.87GHz (430x9). With "tweaks" I could probably hit 15k.

I don't think so, not with normal tweaks and not at those clocks.
Please prove me wrong. ;)

Define "normal tweaks". Only those that can be applied via the NV CP? I agree. But if we talk about additional "tweaks" I believe it can be accomplished. As to the legitimacy of those tweaks, I don't believe in using them as they're utterly useless in real-world gaming.

With proper LOD tweaking you can see massive gains, 2k 3DMarks in gains might be a bit excessive, but at the same time you'd be very surprised at what is available.
I know, but with just LOD you're not gonna see 2K gains, no way, more like 500 points in 3D '06 (at most).
techguy2k5
03-04-2008, 12:03 PM
I wouldn't need to gain 2k in order to hit 15k either. < 1.3k is the differential. Very doable IMHO.
Also I know my CPU is good for @ least 4GHz (have already Orthos, Prime, & Super PI at this speed)but currently my DDR2-800 4GB kit is limited to 860MHz regardless of timings and voltage. Some better RAM would help there. Also had my GPU cooler @ stock 29% fan speed, so I'm sure if I ramped that up to 60% or so I could hit higher clocks on the card.

There's definitely some odd results out and about. I'm not saying cheating but some people are now getting results far in advance of the card clocks and the reason I do not say it is cheating is that I swapped to a certain driver and got a huge boost. However I then tried a similar driver to some large scores and got whooped.
Currently there are a lot of unknowns to try and work out.

I don't remember what driver I was using then. As I have been to lazy to reinstall my second card recently I have not tried for an 06 run in a long while.
Chip has not been liking anything over 3.4. I need to move to a new board, still using a 680i A1.
