Moving to a apartment with a roommate and I want to make sure both of us have no issues accessing the internet whatsoever.

We are going to be streaming videos and music from my PC to both of the XBox 360's and I want to be able to do so without killing the network. Also, it would be nice if both of us can play on XBox Live with no issues... and one of us can play XBox and the other downloading files without lagging each other.

Roommate's Laptop - Wireless
My Future laptop - Wireless

Roommate's XBox 360 - Living Room

My XBox 360 - My Room
My Desktop PC - My Room

ISP will be road runner.. don't really have a choice.

Let me know what you guys think, I appreciate it!

I have had good experiences with the WRT54GS (Speedbooster). Very hackable (I have the ver1 which is 4MB the newer ones are 2MB), you can get to the draft n speeds (even though it b/g). The built-in firewall is more than satisfactory, all ports are stealth by default. You can save a few $$ over the new draft-n ones. Range is good, I have an old 1 GHz P-M with a g-card over 50 ft. and three walls away and get reasonable signal (always over 70%). :)

If you are going to be streaming video you would probably be better off without encryption on, this is what I have done. I just filter MACs and have SSID broadcast off. Anyways I pay bills over the desktop (wired) just to be safe! :)

BTW I had Roadrunner when I stayed in Milwaukee and had great experience with them (8MBPS @ $30!).
