my temps were as follows, 40 on the CPU, 32 on the System, celcius.

you see what I'm running and I was doing a 3.15GHZ OC on my C2D6400

I installed a BFG GeForce 8800GT OC2, and a 150gb WD Raptor.

I have 3 hard drives, which were installed in my HDD bay, blocking the intake fan at the bottom front of my case. I moved 2 hard drives to the slots where floppy drives go, to clear that space out for the intake front fan.

I noticed that my temps went up 2 degrees after installing the GPU and Raptor, which to me would make sense since the GT OC2 doesn't have its own fan harness which blows heat out the back of the case...and the third HD creating more heat? although I would expect that to affect system temps not cpu temps?

I decided to reapply the Thermal Paste on my CPU AC-5....did this twice because the first time I didn't think I did a good enough job. .....my PC on the same Overclock is running 10 degrees higher than before!!! and I know I did a good job on the thermal paste the second time around....I'm using a Arctic Freezer Pro HS and fan.

I don't know what to think, the only thing that comes to mind is the HS clips are not as firm as they were the first time I clipped them in, so the HS doesn't sit as firmly on the CPU as it used to? I can't see the HS being faulty all of a sudden?

Any suggestions?

install one pci-cooler and System Temperature will drop... but Cpu? i think there is a little bottleneck...
mount one little fan on the back of Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 ...

I do have a fan mounted to the HS, it comes with one....is that what you mean?

I guess a PCI cooler is a cheap way to improve airflow.

do you think moving the HD's from the HD bay to the floppy area could have caused a bottleneck?

remount the HSF, bad mounts happen.

and I wouldn't say a c2d is overheating until 60+
regardless I like my system chilly but that's besides the point.

I like my system chilly too, especially since I'd like to do a 100% or close to OC, so I want my temps to be low...and I do a lot of gaming..

is it worth it to buy the thermalright 120 extreme HS, will it be that much different than my current one?

make sure those push pins are pushed in all the way.
