Just talked to a friend at a big reseller of Abit products and he said the Max3 boards are expected sometime next week.
I have to pick one up since it is going into my prommy once it arrives after mods. I've been wanting this board due to the higher Vmem voltage (3.1-3.2V supposedly per Abit rep)...and the mosfet cooling looks ok (will try to pull plastic tunnel from fan and sink the mem chips anyway).
More to come when & if I know anything more solid.

I'll let everyone know when I see the product release actually happening, figure they'll be scarce for a while.

I know someone back from hong kong thats a big reviewer, he hookes me up with quite a few products before they hit the mass market.
Dang!!! Lucky you! Must be nice. So if they are arriving in Hong Kong then they should be hitting the US in the next week or two.

most likely, he got it about a week ago though.
I have one IC7-max3 here in Assembly '03 @Finland right next to me, with one FX5900 graphicscard on top of it. :D
Though I can't get them running because I don't have a processor or memory. :(
Anyone interested in some specific information on board layout, or components? This one is promo board, for example it has no SATA chip, but still all the other components inc connectors are there (totalling 6 SATA connectors!)

Here's one link to some "long range photos". I'll try to get someone here with good macro camera to get precise shots. Are there any specific spots to take a shot about?

Take a close up shot of the socket - I want to see how it'll all fit together in my prommy. Thanks for linking the other pics, I've checked out Abit's promo stuff a lot already. It looks like you can take the tunnel over the mosfets off with a couple screws! I want to sink the mem chips too.
The big question for me: "how loud is the small power circuitry fan"?

Cant even hear it. Im not sure of the DB, but its very quiet. If you ask me, that was just a marketing ploy,( im sure quite a few people share that veiw).

I agree, both fans on the board are very quiet, almost inaudible.
My opinion about the OTES is that it is wrongly designed, as it heats the air inside the case, and even worse: the air conducted towards the processor :(
The board with good overclocking capabilities isn't attractive anymore to the "normal user". But when you add some hoity toity clear plastic with some good features: that'll do the trick!
About the NB sink/fan: IMO they are quite wisely chosen, as the sink is big, and the fan is quiet. But then again it won't allow much overclockin. Ok, those who buy a board to overclock it, will use their own, carefully chosen ways to cool down things, don't we?
