Alright, I don't need any perphs.

I run a 30" lcd tv as my monitor and it only supports 1280x1024, so I def want a monitor, maybe a 22" that can do 1920x1200 for $250 or whatever you recommend.

So just a monitor and then the system, I have an O.S

I've always been an AMD fan, but with the way they're going I'm getting tired of it, so either AMD or Intel. Uhh for graphics, ATI or Nvidia, but I heard the 3870's are hot stuff, and possibly I should wait for two 3870x2's, so I need advice on that too please.

Has to have a bit of overclockability (is that a word? =O ) but isn't such a huge necessity.

Thanks in advance.

It really all depends on what you're going to be doing with this new build. Elaborate a bit...gaming/graphic design etc...

For $2000, you can build a hella nice system.

personally i would get http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=A4854023 w/ a q6600 because the q6450 is delayed.

as far as video card is concerned just grab an 8800gt instead of crossfiring 3870s as crossfire support SUCKS for lots of games!

edit: or 2 x 2900pros 512bit will only cost u $340 and im sure 2 of them beat the crap out of an 8800gts 512mb as long as you flash them to xts

cm690 is a great case..
get some ddr2 ballistix i guess

as far as powersupply goes for one 8800gt and that motherboard and processor the corsair hx520w would be a great choice for a nice modular psu..

as far as harddrive are concerned grab 2x 7200.10s 300gb and just raid0 and grab a small raptor for one game and OS.

but it seems as if you dont need your PC *now*, is there no game you want to play ATM? if this is the case wait until 3870x2 and see what the deal with the new quads is. they will probly come around feb/april im guessin

as far as monitor is concerned im a major supporter of CRTs for gaming. i run 1152 x 864 at 91hz on this monitor, samsung 1100p that i got for $40 off craiglist. its amazing.

i would also grab an lcd so you can play MMOs, browse the web, and watch movies or whatever, i recommend a 22" 1680x1050, its a nice comfortable resolution

air cooling - thermal right ultra 120 extreme, use the stock heatpipes on the motherboard, cant guarentee a fit but chances are it will work

grab some yates @ petrastechshop w/ a fan controller.

sound card- x-fi xtrememusic. best card ever after opamp mod, and get some nice cans, i prefer ath-900

cant say much about optical drives

get a 4gb kit of ram, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231145 awesome, just saw this - rediculous price for ddr2 1000.
