This is the story of a CPU and a video card that both love -75. No higher and no lower. Maybe we can also throw the part in about how I stepped in a puddle of LN2, and blistered my right foot to the point where I can barely walk...no...we can save that one for later.
I can be sitting here kickin' back with the Dragon F1 (original) and Tek-9 3.0, each right around -75, no lower than -78, but sometimes as high as -68. (Yes, that's good for 5500, even 5600MHz+) This CPU doesn't fear the high temps nearly as much as the low ones. The video card is happy right around the same place coincidentally. Full LN2 on both containers...my first time doing more than one without the assistance of my copilot Vapor. (Wish you were here)
Anyways, to cut to the chase-
QX9650 retail @ 393 x 14 = 5502MHz
Asus P5E64 WS Professional (blame it, not me for the low FSB :p:)
Corsair Dominator 1800C7 6-5-5-15 1T and all the good stuff @ 786MHz
BBATi Radeon HD 2900XT @ 1193/963 (this is where I realize my dumb arse covered up the only info worthwhile in GPU-Z :brick:)
Zippy 700W + Silverstone Zeus ST85ZF 850W
I think that covers it...
Oh yeah, last I checked its only hipro that's ahead of me. My motto is...2nd place is as good as last...unless its to hipro5, k|ngp|n, Kinc or Shamino :yepp:

And uhh...here's an older run to show off those sexy GPU clocks: (using My Computer to verify CPU speed FTW)

Special thanks to k|ngp|n and Vapor who've bent over their backs plenty of times to help me with benching...woulda loved to have had these guys around. Same goes for all my other e-friends too. ;)
And most important of all, HUGE thanks to ATi and nVidia for not releasing anything stupid fast so as to allow my purchases of 2900XT's from June to not be worthless all the way up to my school's winter break now in December. :woot: Very pleasant, and the first time I can recall this privilege. (Shame on Intel for not following suit :slapass:)
P.S....the explanation for the wallpaper is that it came to me in a dream that I was supposed to bench using one similar to that.

I see that you're getting used to bench ALL ALONE and that's a GOOD sign..... ;) :D
Keep it up M8....

Damn nice result Gaut, almost looks like you could get by with DI if these parts don't like being any colder. Sorry about the foot...that sounds kinda bad.
Hey, your not second to hipro on card clocks :D

Very nice
To bad the low cold bug, I know it's a PIA :shakes:
Now get a 2nd 2900XT and a 3rd Tek :yepp:
I really admire people who can bench alone with 3 ln2 containers, I'm to lazy and old for that

what the heck is a puddle of LN2 doing on the floor anyways hahah
good job with this bench session btw :)

Nice vcore, did ya found a voltmod or is it pure overvoltage?

very nice clocks for the temps, both on gpu and cpu Gautum :)
I guess we all had our benching fix this weekend, I was testing and benching LN2 till 3am on Sunday morning, testing the whole rig without stop for 12hours straight on LN2, at the end of it the VGA card slot handles were all wet and crossfire bridges frozen with a thick layer of iceonto each other and the cards :D

damn that sucks about your foot, might want to wear some work boots just to be safe....sounds unpractical but alot more safer......;)
great score for 2900 XT single card 05......
But....-75 C ...lol thats just slight better then dry ice temps, think its the board or the cpu bugged ?
MM has an similar board and his qx9650 bugged out @ -30C temp range with dry ice.
Me thinking the board is an hit or miss......

Thanks for the all the kind words guys. :)
Yeah I started wearing shoes ever since. :p:
Could be the board...but I tried a Blitz Extreme too and the bug was pretty much just as bad, actually it was a little worse in that board.

The GPU voltage was 1.51v. I know, that's peanuts for you blind_ripper :D but it really didn't seem to want any more. The card actually does do 1200+ (http://www.ocforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=61475&stc=1&d=1198718277) under dry ice. For some reason that night though, I had trouble getting the mix right to reproduce it, and had enough LN2, so decided to go with that instead.
As for more cards...don't I have enough yet?? :p:

I threw the whole rig on dry ice last night for my first attempt with 3 containers, and Sham, I don't get how you can get it to last 12 hours. :p: After about 20 minutes, one of my cards was frosted up insanely and I was done and had to shut down.
Pedro, your awesome 01 scores inspired me to try to seriously bench it in the first time in nearly two years. (Low nature completely turned me off from it on ATi :-/) Seems like I have gotten very rusty. :( I made one quick attempt with the cards at 1100/980 (unfortunately all my other cards are either garbage clockers or dead, or both)....and got this (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=9311281)...which I am ashamed of even posting. Perhaps it's the fact that I was running my PCI-E at stock for testing, tried all Catalyst AI settings and nothing...but at least we can see that the CPU does 5400MHz on dry ice. :)
Also have a poorly optimized Aquamark3 run. :(

Your runs always show the results of tweaking done under a careful hand.
what the heck is a puddle of LN2 doing on the floor anyways hahah
I was pouring from dewar to another, and it turned out there was a lot more in the first one than I thought and got a ton all over the carpet. :D

Really impressive and almost 100k single card 3d01, go for it.
Their is one (dont remember the name) from holland afaik that have a qx like yours + - that also dont like cold, but in same range as yours and also does like yours.
Sad to hear about your foot, hope you soon will get it better.
Keep pushing it.

Wish I were there to bench alongside, but looks like you did more than okay with me absent, maybe your foot would have been saved though :p:
Great looking clocks and scores there bud

Real nice clocks there Gautam.:)
What volts are you giving the card with those clocks?
Edit: never mind, you mention it in a reply that I just saw.

gautam and other 2900xt user's .
use a stock bios like for a good one

this one from asus :the modded bios's from ati have lak on mem clocking and power ;) .
Gautam

blind, I used both the stock and the modded ones, and they yielded identical CPU and GPU clocks as far as I could tell. Of course, the voltages they resulted in were different...but adjusting the trimmer compensated.
Eric, the 1200 card is sitting in my suitcase. ;)

ah i see
yeah i've been benching on my own and have a strange method of extracting LN2 from the tank(35L pretty heavy sucker)...guess i'll have to be careful
i sprayed myself plenty of times but no blisters thank god heheh
