Because the 65nm shader core of G92 scales far more better in frequency than the "old" 90 nm G80 shader core. ;)

tested my 88GT yesterday with 1.28v and stock cooler at 100%.. managed 06 at 820Mhz. the GTS card with bigger cooler at 870Mhz seems likely at 1.3v or so...?

I am thinking to replace my Inno3D 8800GT with a 8800GTS 512MB.

The Inno3D 8800GT with incrreased voltage through the BIOS works stable @738/1725MHz, but it needes the cooler running at 100%(that makes annoying loud noise) or the card will overheat and crash.

No biosmods for the GTS 512mb only hardmods.

Don't think the fan on that GTS is quite, far from it, at 100% it's very loud and the card still gets pretty hot.

Mine idles at 58-60ºC with the fan at the stock 36%.

back i did have a quick 1hr and i got stock volts/cooling
