Sounds like a pretty good piece!
In a magazine in my country they called it the best 22" you can get (in my country) Maybe thats a strech and maybe not!

What are your thoughts guys?

The thing that bothers me is what would be the text size on this thing?

How do you cope with your 24" and what is your eye distance from the panel using that res?
Can anyone measure their text with a ruler and post it here (ie. text height and width on the "favorites" button in IE 7 in Vista)

How about a picture instead?

That monitor sounds great, what about price?

i hope more 22" 1920x1200's come out...but i spose y'd have to increase your default text size so you can read the text.

smaller pixel size should help to make it a nice looking screen hopefully.

also; need to be less costly than 24" obviously..:eh:

Yea the price for this monitor is like 450 euro in europe, as for a comparison, the Samsung 226BW cost like 260. And a LG L245 can be had for 520 euro. Our monitor prices sux really here in Europe.

Can always just put it to 1680X1050 when in desktop mode. It'd be identical to any other 22" monitor (duh). I like the high pixel per inch at 1920X1200 though. More info!

Not entirely - if stretched it will look much worse than a native 1680x1050 monitor.

If left unscaled, it will be even smaller than 1920x1200.

True. Not as nice as a native 1680X1050 at 22" but for desktop use... meh. At least for me anyways.

So how big are the fonts actually on 1920x1200?

And what happens if you run the screen in lower res for desktop and then play a 1080 .mkv file on it in full screen? Any insight in that?

It will always look crappier if you downscale the resolution on tft's. In games you might not notice it that well but it desktop it's obvious that the image isn't as good as it is with the native resolution.

^Yes i get that but Iwas wondering about the video content playback.
The reasoning behind it was this: lets say you use dasktop res. lower than native 1920x1200 so I can read web normaly. Then I go play one of my HD movies from hdd and run it in fullscreen.
Now given the fact that i have more than enough pixels for full hd i shouldn't see any loss in quality while playing in full screen although my desktop res is lover than native, right?

1920x1200 pixels on a 24" display is fine, you won't have problems reading it.

This monitor is a step in the right direction. Hopefully it won't be long before we have 20" displays with 1920X1200 resolution.

I don't think you will have any problems at native resolution. The laptop I'm currently using is a 14.1" @ native 1400x1050, that's ~104k pixels per inch. The 22" @ native 1920x1200 would have ~105k pixels per inch.

I can't stand anything else than native resolution when reading text. 1280x1024 on Slax made me go crazy before I figured out how to change the display driver and that my screen supported 1:1 pixel mapping :p: I found black bars to be much better than fuzzy text.

Picture taken with a 6year old compact camera... the tft doesn't have any banding of that sort.

Anyway I just came to think of the 2560x1600 30" TFTs. That's ~137k pixels per inch and those work fine as well...
